A nice fruit and vegetable shop. Having discovered this row of food shops around the corner on Upper Rathmines Road, whenever we call up here to get some meat or seafood, we go to Field & Vine for our fruit and vegetables. Like with it’s neighbours Lawlors or Connollys, F&V is not the cheapest shop of its kind in the city, but they do stock quality. And fresh veg too, like beetroot. I’ve recently started using fresh beetroot and F&V was the first place I’ve found it in. Evergreen on Wexford street only had the vacuum packed peeled beetroot the last time I was there. Their Queens potatoes were delicious also. They also sell cheese and cured meats, as well as other artisan foodstuffs. Recommended.

I had no idea that Rathmines stretches up this far, I just thought it ended at Rody Bolands. There is a gathering of shops up at the top and this is one of them. Definitely more of an upper scale grocer store for those with more of an epicurean leaning. Their sandwich section is very impressive. I got a mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and pesto bap. It was delicious. Definitely a place to treat yourself in.

Though not personally a vegan my dear and lovely girlfriend is. Dublin is a particularly difficult place to shop for specialized Tofu, and this is one of the rare spots that has a selection. There is the normal firm tofu, Basil Tofu, Feta-like tofu, and Chicken Substitute Tofu. They also have a nice array of fruits and vegetables. *Note — most of the stuff here is super expensive; however their herb selection is priced very well and at a great value. So definitely pick up your fresh herbs here. They also have great specialty items like Tahini, just know you’re paying an arm and a leg. Worth it if you really need to made a kick-butt hummus.

The thing that drew me into Field and Vine in the first place was the bright, gorgeous looking produce section at the front of the shop. A welcome change from other shops that have veg past its sell by date still on its shelves. The organic ingredients used in their products come through in the yumminess of the flavours. If you’re looking to get me flowers, which I’m sure all Unilocalers are, they have a great selection of boquets and flowers at the front of the shop. Don’t forget to pick me up some wine!

I wasn’t aware until Melanie’s review that this place had more then one outlet. Its another, pretty good, medium sized deli/grocery/health food shop. This stretch of the upper Rathmines road has gone quite upmarket the last few years and theres another Deli on the same strip as well as super-butches next door. I was pretty impressed by F&V, got a great sambo here today and as well as this they have a pretty well stocked organic chocolate section, so they pretty much had me at Green & Blacks. Theres also a pretty good salad bar and the usual health food stuff like soy, numerous oils and pulses and grains. Its not as flash as Donnybrook Fair or a expensive, thankfully, as Morton’s. If you have an emergency Susi rice shortage or just can’t manage without Tapenade then you’ll be in the right place in Field and Vine. They also as the name suggests sell wine.

This shop has changed ownership, and names for that matter, ever since I can remember. But it is now at its best ever. Serving everything from muesli to wine, you will most likely find what you are looking for. They sell many organic items, gorgeous olive oils, a good selection of wines and fresh bread is baked every day. It is not that expensive, but not cheap either. It reflects an Ireland that can now afford to pay for good food. The staff are always friendly and it’s a pleasant experience to shop here.
