Although I prefer Beijing-style roast duck, I did enjoy the duck here. It’s a cozy little shop with a limited menu, but they cover a good amount of Chinese classic dishes when it comes to roast duck. However, for the price, the quality and portion size of the food wasn’t really worth it for me. If you’re in the area and are cravings a quick bite to eat, I’d recommend it, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

What a wonderful find while walking the streets of Dublin! Boneless duck with noodles and duck spring rolls were so good that we went back for a snack the next day. Very polite staff who wanted us to enjoy ourselves in their very small restaurant. My wife is now a duck fan and wants a bullet grill.

Duck is definitely a hidden gem for those with a palette for authentic Chinese roasts. This restaurant features an authentic selection of BBQ Pork(5 stars), Soy Chicken(3.5 stars), Duck, Pork Belly, or Pork Ribs. I ordered a small box consisting of BBQ Pork and Soy Chicken with noodles(€ 6.95). The noodles were difficult to eat in texture; they were hard and not very compatible with the selection of meats. But I was craving noodles, so go figure. The BBQ Pork, on the otherhand, was absolutely delectable. They were juicy, tender, with just the right amount of flavor. It made me nostalgic to the Chinese dishes I would eat back home in California. The Soy Chicken was a tad dry to my liking. So out of the three items I had in my box, the BBQ Pork was definitely the star of the dish. Customer service was friendly, but I don’t like how they advertise certain specials without notice of it being valid within a certain timeframe. I will have to come back and try their duck, but for now, I’ll stick with my 3-star rating.

Love it. The serving girl was so kind and friendly. You have two sizes to choice from, small 6,95 or regular(8,95). I took the chicken as a base(you can choice between duck pork or chicken) with fried rice(you can have white/fried rice or noodles). I go for small one and I was surprised with the portion(really generous). It was looking so yummy! Chicken was very moist and tender, the thing I didn’t really liked what that chicken was on bone. All fat, skin and rest was there. That makes eating bit challenging and messy. Rice taste amazing, I could eat and eat. Another problem was bits of fat and bones in rice, I had to be careful with biting. Also, I was missing some veg. Overall great place for a quick bite when you on your shopping.

I’ve wanted to try this place for ages and going by the name my assumption was that they serve only duck but when I asked which dish I’d the best I was informed the pork! Anyway I went for the duck, small potion on the bone with noodles. First off I think the small portion is plenty, the duck may have been a little sparse but there were lots of noodles and some surprise veg too. The duck was delicious, moist, tender, falling off the bone and fatty skin was rendered so I’m assuming they go for a slow roast. They had just run out of noodles so was told ot would be a ten min wait which I didn’t mind at all. About two min later I was beconed to the counter to collect my food. Unfortunately the noodles weren’t cooked, rice noodles which were still white when they sound have been opaque almost, but they were tasty. The juices from the duck sitting on top give them a delicious flavour. The staff are friendly and the place is nice, small with some seats. There are condiments on the tables but I decided to bask in the flavour of the duck rather than add to it. You get a free Apple which is a nice little addition. I’ll be back and next time am getting the pork

Sometimes the simple things are the best. Tasty noodles with good chunk of juicy but crispy skinned Duck breast. No over powering sauces or dips, just let the main ingredient shine. Will defo be back next time I’m in the area

Duck is stupidly delicious and I love it and I’d eat it every day if it weren’t likely to make me very fat, but anything that tastes this good can in no way be good for you. It’s a simple enough concept — all the meat is cooked in a bullet oven, which is what it sounds like, a large bullet-shaped oven in which the meat is allowed to bake and sweat. It produces the most succulent meat imaginable. I always pick a small box with noodles and two kinds of meat, choosing between char sui pork, duck(€ 1 extra for boneless) pork belly, ribs, chicken, etc. Then you can either choose noodles or fried vegetables, and it all come to around € 7. The last time I was there an obnoxious man in a tweed jacket got up, skipped the queue, asked whether or not it was a chain and expressed an interest in investing in it. It’s that good. It sits about 16 cosily I’d say. They’re all lovely chaps working there too.

Excellent roast duck and bbq pork! These guys know what they are doing and making Chinese BBQ food the proper traditional way. The duck is moist and juicy with the right amount of seasoning. The BBQ pork is moist but would like a bit more sweet seasoning sauce. This restaurant takes you back to Hong Kong or a Cantonese restaurant in Vancouver. I will be making this a regular visit on my travels to Dublin.

First things first: the bad reviews on this place do not make any sense. A little background: I was born in Hong Kong, raised in Vancouver, Canada. Both places are meccas of Cantonese cuisine, of which BBQ duck is a specialty of. Vancouver is one of the best places for Chinese food outside of Hong Kong… so I do know what I’m talking about when I’m talking about good Cantonese Chinese food. Had the Duck on Rice. It’s done right. BBQ duck on a bed of rice with a single bak choi… that’s pretty much how I grew up eating such a meal! The duck was fatty in parts(as expected) and there are parts where there was more spices(which would make it salty). Both things are to be expected when having roast duck! People who complain about this do not know what a real roast duck is like. Also, roast duck, Cantonese style is not about a «crispy skin». It’s all about how juicy and flavourful the meat is. Yes, you do want a good roasted skin, but that’s not the key. If you want crispy skin, get a fried duck and don’t expect it from a HK-style BBQ joint. Removed one star because they didn’t have a heater on in the winter. Could’ve used a bit more warmth in the place. But overall clean, thoughtful, and nice place to eat in. Will be coming back to this place to try out the other BBQ items. Likely nothing in the pre-made stirfry section though… BBQ is where it’s at :)

first time in this place and i love it! Tiny place but that doesn’t bother me. The place was very clean. The girl that was serving was nice and friendly. The food taste so good! like seriously good! i had traditional duck and crispy pork belly, the skin was crispy alright and the meat was juicy; the fried rice was also good. The price is 2.5 out 5; but sure it was worth it for the amount you get and the taste. I would definitely come back here and bring my friends with me. So i really don’t know why some people give this cool place a bad review.

Delicious fatty, succulent juicy duck, tasty noodles and cripsy spring roles. No idea why this place has such bad reviews, staff were good craic and friendly. Can’t wait to go back and try the char sui. Only negative is, would have loved a nice bottle of Chinese beer to wash the food down with

Very basic Dick, pork time restaurant. Eat in cardboard cartons but the meats are succulent and delicious. Meat servings a bit small but plenty of rice. All fresh — kitchen visible. Fast food — street food feel. Cheap and cheerful. Plus free apples. Lunch from € 5.95. Very fast service — no frills. Will be. A good regular haunt

We were wandering in the neighborhood with my boyfriend and it had been a long time since we wanted to stop in that restaurant. When we arrived in front of it it was still closed, but already smelling good. I checked on Unilocal to know on what time it would open and I admit that when I saw the notes, it scared me, I even thought a moment about going our way to another restaurant. But I was really craving for duck, my boyfriend for ribs, and the low prices(compared to the other restaurants around) decided to nevertheless give it a try. So we got around in the neighborhood for about 45 minutes and then came back, at this time they were already a few peoples inside. We got in, I took the traditional duck, and my boyfriend the honey ribs, both in small sizes. It was really nice because for every order, you can get an apple for free. We both really enjoyed our meals and were definitely full enough after eating it. The duck I had was really good and I really don’t understand the rate on this restaurant’s page, I had traditional duck in many other restaurants(first time in Dublin thought, the other ones were in Paris or China) and this one wasn’t a bad one… I would go back there for sure, I think it was worth the price. I only remove one star because I would have liked my meal to be a bit warmer, and maybe one or two more pieces of meat, would have been nice because three of it were a bit small and fatty(which is part of this dish I know), but still, I can’t really complain, I was full while leaving the restaurant anyway. PS: the duck isn’t buy already cooked(as we can see sometimes in some restaurant) because I actually saw them doing some in the kitchen behind

Having spotted this place while rambling and with a long addiction to the sort of duck you only ever seem to get in various China towns across the world. I was eager to try it. I am very disappointed with my experience there. To start with, the staff were terribly condescending and rude. While trying to decide what to have, I asked them if the skin on the duck was crispy. They proceeded to give me an odd and terribly condescending lecture on how they were not and if they had to do that, they would have to fry the duck. Maybe twice, to get it very crispy. Going so far as to repeat themselves a bit, slower too. As if I would have difficulty understanding. This bizarre«talk» was neither asked for nor needed. Odd that… ask because you’re not in the mood for crazy crispy… get a lecture… Mildly irritated but hoping the duck would make up for the clerks, I ordered the roast duck. I spent a few minutes sucking on a piece or two of mostly bone and fat. While expecting traditional Chinese duck to be fatty, succulent and containing some bone and gristle. I did not expect to be served mostly bone and fat. The fat I don’t mind, if there is something else to it. But the meat was minimal. The rice it was served with was so insipid as to not be bothered with after an initial taste. In a rush, I brought my tray back with no energy for and no intention of saying anything and left. It was taken and the full container was studied for a moment before being dumped into the bin with nothing said. After a moments thought on the street outside the restaurant, I went back inside to tell them how unhappy their food had made me. I began by telling them I hadn’t enjoyed the food and found it disappointing. I was asked what was wrong and I explained it had been mostly bone, gristle and fat. First it was explained to me that if I were used to take away joints like Charlies and others then I would probably be disappointed by their«authentic cuisine». Half-chuckling and repeating themselves a bit, again, they went on to slowly explain to me that I was wrong, that Chinese people like bone and fat, that I had, in fact suffered a cultural misunderstanding. They made sure to tell me this more than once and rephrase it, repeating also the bit about being used to take away food. Reference was also made again to crispy fried duck and frying it for me. Barely being given a moment to reply, I pointed out I normally ate in the Good World. To which, they paused a moment to say«Oh, Uncle Lao’s» before carrying on explaining repetitively to me how I was used to Dublin and Europeanised take-away food and not their food and was culturally confused and did not understand Chinese food. I feel bad for the Good World or «Uncle Lao’s», as they referred to it. I would intensely dislike if my business was being linked familial to such a substandard and rude establishment. Smiling as they«explained», they seemed thoroughly amused and I left to them chuckling at my back. What a dreadful place, staffed by horrible people. A place so bad, I could not even be bothered to write a humorous review. Where my initial review — «Forget these guys, you’ll have better food in McDonalds.» was too oblique and did not underline the actual problems with the establishment.

I spotted a poster for Duck in the Asia Market on Sunday. My son who loves duck pancakes was very excited. We met the rest of the family and headed to Duck for a snack, we tried the Duck spring rolls and the Dunk pancakes Spring rolls were heavy on beansprouts and carrot, very little duck! Pancakes were quite light on the duck also, the three children were fairly underwhelmed. Lovely looking ducks hanging up, and the barrell oven looks the business. Hopefully teathing troubles will be sorted out, its a great concept if done well.

This started out so well. They’ve done a great job with decorating the place; a nice combo of modern & striking graphics, with old school Chinese style decorations, and of course, the glistening ducks hanging from skewers, waiting to be devoured. As with many before me, I was excited by the surroundings, and had high hopes for what was to come. The staff member I spoke with was very friendly — what could possibly go wrong? My order was a small one as I was really just after a snack, so I got a side of crispy duck pancakes which come with Hoisin sauce and spring onions. I love duck pancakes, but these poor lads were a pretty poor attempt. Three tiny wraps that looked more like sad cold little papery fingers, containing bits of fatty duck, drowned in sauce, with one tiny limp piece of spring onion which one would assume was initially included for a bit of crunch. I ate it, but only cos I was hoping to convince myself that it was going to be nice in the end. It wasn’t. Boo urns. Back to the drawing board Duck!

Like others I hope this place gets better. They are friendly and it looks quite nice etc. if a bit«chain» or pre fabricated but at least it is clean. I ordered the small duck and rice. What I got was plain rice with one tiny piece if pak choi and some tasty looking roast duck on top. A bit more veg and less rice would be better, I heard others asking for that. The duck was tender and tasty but had too much carcass bone in it. In china town London they remove most of the bone. Rice needed a bit of love also. Hope they step it up.

Having waited and waited, speculating anxiously outside the Duck doors, I am both sad and sorry to say that I have been monumentally disappointed. What can only be described as a jazzed up but very average Chinese takeaway, Duck did little for me, proving to be style over substance in the truest sense. Entering the place, all good. The delicious looking duck hanging on the wall really gets the belly grumbling. I stood as my girlfriend ordered a small portion of it with half rice/half veg and sauce. When it came to my turn I found that they did not take card so ran to find a machine. This, I soon found out, was a lucky escape. I came back to find my girlfriend chewing on a bone which contained barely any meat. «How is it?» I asked eagerly. So… the duck was nothing but fat, and not the tasty fat that you know you shouldn’t like but do; the really fatty fat that you actually cannot stomach. The veg tasted of nothing, as did the rice which had no seasoning whatsoever. The ‘sauce’ was soy sauce. Beyond disappointing. I really wanted to love this place, I was genuinely so excited. But unless I hear good reviews from others in the coming months, I won’t be returning.

I really want to like this place, I love duck and the place looks great. However, I was a little disappointed. It was near the end of the day and there wasn’t enough duck left for a full serving, so I got a mix of duck and pork ribs. The duck was very tasty, but the skin wasn’t crispy at all. Even though I had asked to have it with vegetables, there was very little veg(loads of rice though). I think Duck has a lot of potential and my experience may be because it was so close to closing time. They have put thought into what people want, knowing a lot of Irish people’s dislike for meat coming on the bone, they had boneless duck breast on the specials board. The traditional roast duck, like all good meat dishes, came on the bone :-D I will be back to give this place again though…

I’m not totally sure about this place. I’ve been waiting for it to open for ages, passing in front and speculating… I did think it was going to be a bit better. We got the duck, one with rice and the other with vegetables. We also tried a couple of spring rolls which were decent. The duck was very tasty, but strangely soggy. Still, it was the best part. The vegetables looked awful, tasted rather bland and salty but not too bad. The rice was incredibly average.
