Club Vitae Health & Fitness Club

I recently joined this gym and am really impressed with it so far. The annual membership option is quite flexible in that you pay for 2 months up front and then can cancel at any time after that if you give 30 days notice. I just joined to use the pool, so can’t comment on the gym. There’s a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi as well as a 22 metre pool. Anytime I have been there, the lanes have been pretty free. The pool and changing rooms are very clean and the staff go out of their way to help. There are also a good few free classes you can go to if you’re a member.

We had a free trial session her a couple weeks ago, as we were wanting to join.
I really want to join, but we aren’t sure if we are going to. Maybe it was just a very busy night, but the place was pretty full. We had to step over people to get to the stationary bikes, we had to step over more people to get to the cross trainers — and then wait for some to be available. The machines are much older than we are used to and hence have restricted options for use. There is almost no resistance machines, and the weight area is tiny. Had thought to go to the pool, but its really only got 3 lanes (from what I could see) and looked like there was a que to get one of them.
With few options in the area, its obviously got a good membership. Mix some hotel guests into that and it seems to be full up at the times when I am able to use it.
It seemed to be clean, but husband said the showers were cold. I didn’t shower as the ladies were full, so I went home and showered instead. We used to use Jacki Skelly in Ballsbridge, so I guess we’re just used to more space and modern machines.
The plan is to walk our rears off until the new gym opens up across from it.

I like this place a lot. Facilities are very good and the membership scheme is exceptionally flexible. It is by far the best value of area gyms if you don’t live in Dublin year round.

The Club Vitae Heath & Fitness Club is part of the Maldron Hotel at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. It’s hidden on the lower ground floor and you could think that it’s for hotel guests only, maybe that’s the reason why a review on Unilocal is nowhere to be found — yet!
What I like about this gym is that it’s not super crowded, reasonably priced, and it has a pool attached to it that you’re free to use. Time and wear, however, took its toll on the equipment and it seems that it would need some makeover in the near future. The gym might not be the best if you go for muscle building (only a small and usually crowded area with free weights and machines) but for cardio the equipment is totally sufficient (lots of treadmills, steppers, and cycles).
