Seems you can’t throw a Writer’s Guide in Dublin without hitting a Joyce reference. Over in Chapelizod the stately Bridge Inn pub has the honour of being an establishement of preference for the author’s father. Not to get TOO literary, but the place even gets a name drop in «A reader’s guide to James Joyce» — put that on your Bloomsday Itinerary! Today the pub plays its part well as a very local favourite on St Lawrence’s(St. Laurence?) road. A bit dark, packed with vintage features and offering window seats overlooking the Liffey The Bridge Inn has character to spare for adventurous drinkers. Definitely off the beaten path, the busy intersection right on its doorstep keeps traffic low but patrons undeterred –after all this place has been in business(in some capacity) for over one hundred years.
