Lit like a cave, a bit care-worn but right in the centre of Chapelizod’s lovely village square, The Villager really comes into its own in the summer. On warm nights it’s the perfect place to sit outside with a pint and a few friends(or in the afternoons with a paper) to soak up those rare good weather days. There’s live music throughout the summer(probably the whole year, but I’m only interested in this place when the weather’s nice) that’s got a pretty passionate following. For visitors stopping in when things are quiet and little colder, the pub’s rich wood interiors and OMP* can be just what the publican ordered after a weekend elbowing through the crowded pubs in town. I’ve heard complaints about The Villager’s lack of offerings(the TV is usually off unless it’s match day), but sometimes all you need is a bit of quiet and a cold drink. *Old Man Pub
