What a lucky find for us today!
We all really enjoyed our food which was really well priced, and they pour a beautiful pint of Guinness.
We were served by the most helpful while still incredibly laid back waiter I’ve ever met, and our food came really quickly too.
The décor isn’t as beautiful as some of my favourite pubs, but it had charm and was so cozy we didn’t really want to leave.

I didn’t have the food so this review doesn’t include that. it is possible the food might be great. The reason I’m giving it such a low review is they had the TV on really loud while also playing music which I found really annoying. The other TV’s were also on but luckily didn’t have sound as they were playing different show

A nice pub with lots of charm. I love the photos that they have adorning all the walls. John Wayne, Mohamed Ali and Katie Taylor to name a few. Real legends.
The Guinness was mighty good too.
Some regulars were less than welcoming to be honest and our group of five got a few dirty looks by just being there.
Good thing the staff more than made up for it and served us with genuine smiles.

Pub Grub with the Locals! You know its legit when you see Irish construction workers eating here, and the old men at the bar speak with such a strong accent that you can barely tell its English. Perfect lunch stop if you’re wandering between Dublin Castle, Saint Patricks Cathedral, and the Guinness Storehouse.
9 euro Beef N Guiness Stew… yum!
11 euro Fish N Chips… not the best, but still good! (Order the BnG Stew instead)
Sandwiches under 5 euro if you’re on a budget.
Loved the friendly staff too.

I’m not a drinker but I do love the Irish pub: the atmosphere, the craic, the coziness, the food and music.
Bakers Bar & Restaurant:
I 100% agree with the reviews about being 100% non tourist and local.
As soon as I walked in my friend pointed out that the patrons were drinking red lemonade which is a traditional, older crowd drink, so that tells you that it is as local as you can get.
Music was great and I loved how the whole pub would sing along! That was very special.
Another thing I thought was great was the historical décor. They had newspaper prints of the Dublin Characters: Thomas Dudley (Bang Bang). My Irish friend explained who he was: His nickname derived from his practice of pursuing trams armed with a large brass door key which he would point at the moving vehicles while imitating the action and sound of firing a handgun.
One big downside though.
The food was, sorry, just awful and expensive. I had a hamburger, my friend fish and chips. This was around 5pm. Oh man. As soon as the food came out I knew I made a mistake. Both plates looked like they had been cooked hours ago and left on the heating plate. The chips were old, hard and clearly not fresh. The meat was… no no no… I left most of my food untouched. My friend’s fish and chips was equally bad and it was almost 30eur.
So, for the non drinker this is a great pub to hang out and listen to music, but on the food front much left to be said.

This is the local of my dreams and I was lucky enough to have it as my local when I lived nearby for a few years. It gets an eclectic mix of clients from liberties locals, NCAD students and even tourists going to and from The Storehouse. For this reason and the fact that the barman tolerates no funny business whatsoever, it is different from what one expect from this area. The Irish music sessions on Sundays are really entertaining and would be an authentic alternative to made for tourists overpriced crap in many parts of town. Lest I forget, their Guinness is in my top 5 in Dublin! Ideal day out for a tourist, head to The Storehouse Sunday morning, then onto Bakers for the Cold Porter Sessions and the excellent Guinness!

Only had about 25 to 30 minutes in here but it was enjoyable enough. I stopped in for a quick pint in order to kill some time waiting on a friend. There were 3 other patrons in, just sitting quietly and drinking. The bartender poured me probably the nicest pint of the black stuff that I had on my whole trip. Creamy head, no harsh taste and she took her time on it.
It smelled a bit like smoke and it stayed low key for the entirety of my time. If you’re looking to not be bothered, this is your place.

Well ! This is my new local. After I moved into the old part of Dublin (The Liberties) I must say that I have really found «The Place» to hang out on a Sunday afternoon. If you are looking for the real original old Irish music LOOK NO FURTHER. Every Sunday from 1400h to ??? real original Liberties people comes in to The Bakers Bar bringing their own instruments and the locals comes in to sing their songs. It is NOT a tourist trap like Temple Bar, it is the real stuff. Everybody can stand up a sing a song and the music will go along with you right on. I have heard songs in here that I have never heard song before and they are all straight from the heart. just fan f… tastic. And the music is on every Sunday and Monday, and it is FREE. And on top of all, the Guinness here is served as a Guinness must be served, simply just GRAND and cheap to. Food is good to and they often have gigs going on on Fridays and Saturdays as well. The reason I give it 5 stars is for it’s originality and for being SO MUCH DUBLIN. Please! If you want to see and hear the right stuff come in on a Sunday afternoon. Regards, The Dane.
