Aer Lingus

I love flying with aerlingus.
Never had a problem before, minus the exception of some turbulence.
Amazingly friendly staff.
Great leg room, especially when you’re over 6“6.
Great food and service in economy, even better in business.
I’ve used aerlingus to and from NYC on numerous occasions and to Toronto also, all flights have gone without incident.
Highly recommend spending that few extra €€ to get a good flight!

Never got a chance to fly with them. I had a family emergency, booked through american express and when I asked for a voucher, credit, refund or even a portion they told me I needed to pick a date right away for when I want to go to Europe obviously wasn’t able to that fast. Its a big trip. Ended up with nothing and wasted $ 865. No call, no email or anything. I won’t be flying with them ever and I’ll share my experience with everyone I can.
They do not care what you think of them.

I like travelling with Airlingus for 2 reasons: there is enough space between you and person next to you and then because it is at T2, which I love.
I have to say that they are smart. In my opinion they should have more flights as there are months where Airlines doesn’t operate any services on some cities.
Last experience with Airlingus was so good, first they measure your hand luggage and wait it too. Secondly the boarding was disorganised. I saw passengers going at the desk and passing over me, they announced how the boarding worked but the boarding itself looked confused.
Some passengers didn’t respect the queue, I didn’t know if I had to border or not. I was bit annoyed by their service.
Nothing to complain about the service on the plane. I usually don’t eat or drink on a plane, so I cannot say if it is good or not or too expensive as it depends on you and how much you want to spend.
The company itself is nice. I like travelling with them and I found very good their way to process the checking bag, fast and well organised.
About the booking, I saw that they changed it, I think is simple and very good. Easy to do it and more practical.
Soon I will fly again with them, I cannot wait to go to T2.

Nothing to complain about and also nothing to write home about. There service was subpar.

Left from JFK to Dublin, Ireland. The self check in was not working so was forced to stand in line… a very long line. Took almost a hour to get to the front. Once there the lady was really nice and helpful. The plane was crazy packed. My bro and I traveled together but they did not seat us together. We were on opposite ends of the plane. They put me in the exit row, which was great as I am tall and the extra leg room was appreciated. The down part of that is the flight attendant was very rule oriented and when we took off and landed she insisted that EVERYTHIING, with the exception of what we wearing, be stowed in the overhead compartment. I had on a t-​shirt and the plane was freezing. Mrs Rule book insisted I put the blanket they provided up in the overhead… so I sat there shivering for over 20 minutes taking off and landing… was ridiculous and I do believe Old Mrs Rulebook enjoyed seeing us freezing.
Almost gave them 2 star because of the self check in machines not working, long waiting time and the old krouchty flight attendant but taking into account the tickets are cheap, the plane was clean and overall the staff were friendly, I am giving them a 3 star.

ich bin zum 1. Mal mit Aer Lingus geflogen und hab mich gemischten Gefühlen eingecheckt. So eine Billig-​Airline ist ja immer eine Sache. Alle zusätzlichen Wünsche kosten extra… wehe, man hat im Flieger Durst ;)
Zu meiner Überraschung ist die Airline aber kulanter was Handgepäck anbelangt. Bei der Konkurrenz ist als Frau wirklich nur 1 Stück! Anderswo wie auch Aer Lingus zählt die Handtasche nicht als Handgepäck. Die Sitze sind nicht so eng gebaut und das Personal sehr freundlich. Schade halt, in der Billigmanier, je nach Sitzplatz bezahlt man mehr…

Ich bin bislang erst einmal mit Aer Lingus geflogen (Dublin-​Düsseldorf).
Das Einchecken hat gut geklappt, auch wenn die Mitarbeiterin am Schalter keine Miene verzog und die Reisenden emotionslos «abfertigte».
Das Boarden erschien merkwürdig organisiert. Erst wurden bestimmte Reihen genannt, dann plötzlich nur die «Club”-Mitglieder, dann nach Buchstaben… Es war kaum zu durchblicken. Die Ansagen kamen in einem schnellen genuschelten Englisch ohne Rücksicht darauf, dass der Großteil der Passagiere deutsch war und eher älteren Semesters.
Es musste die Boardkarte und der Ausweis vorgezeigt werden. Bei meiner Freundin wurde fast schon die Polizei hinzugezogen, da die Echtheit des vorläufigen Personalausweises angezweifelt wurde.
An Bord angekommen, mussten wir eine halbe Stunde bis zum Start warten, bis abgehoben wurde. Grund hierfür war, dass es an Bord kein fließendes Wasser gab und der Pilot Plastikflaschen anfordert. Hierfür bat er mehrfach um Entschuldigung.
Kostenlose Serviceleistungen gab es an Bord keine.

If they had better seats with some padding and about 2 inches wider on each side they may have got 4 stars.
As soon as I pulled my camera out and before we even took off, the head flight attendant got snotty with me telling me no photos in a long and harsh tone. She gave me the impression she would throw me off the flight if I continued. If I knew Aer Lingus banned photography on board I would have been a little more careful.
I am a highly skilled documentary photog. I hold the world record with how close you can get to a person and still shoot a candid. I have candid’s going down to 2 or 3 inches.

One way or another I get my shots. If I can shoot in De Wallen (where photos are really banned.) I can shoot on a lousy Aer Lingus flight.

So, for the rest of the flight I was more stealthy in my documentation. My photo captions will give you more info. If I write too much here I will get a case of Sontagitis.
Here is a note to you camera fondlers out there that do crappy street work… if your board on your flight, practice shooting the TV screen on the seat ahead of you. (See attached photo in Aer Lingus group.)

Be careful of the Aer Lingus carry-​on policy. You can run up a very big surcharge… study it well.
Bottom line:
I’d fly Aer Lingus again… but I would dread the seats.

Not impressed with online check in from Aer Lingus. When you check in online for a flight 24 hours prior to departure there is no option to pre book your seat and no mandatory charge to prebook your seat either happydays! But when you try and check in online 48 hours before your flight Aer Lingus puts a mandatory seat selection charge onto the price. I’m a grown adult… I couldn’t care less what seat I have to sit in for a 50 minute flight. This is a rubbish extra charge for no reason.
I think it will be a shame if they sell Aer Lingus… however this charge is disgraceful!!! Oh and ps there are numerous pages on their website which do not work and this makes for a rubbish consumer experience as well.

It has been a few years since I flew from chicago on Aer Lingus. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The A330−200 planes are bang up to date with all the tech you would need as well as Wifi for the full trip for only € 14 great deal. As with many of the airlines you now have to pay for alcoholic drinks but not a big deal for me. Will choose them again to fly this route if I can.

I’ve flown Aer Lingus to and from Dublin recently, and it was quite an experience. THe airline is okay but some of their materials feel a bit dated, like their airline attendant uniform colors, the safety video, the seats, etc.
Their food service is a bit strange too. There are basically no vegetarian options made available. I’m not a vegetarian but if you are one, I feel like you may be out of luck. You probably have to ask really far in advance. But the food I did have was not bad. I did like the rolls a lot.
The drink service is very bizarre. I’m used to the American-​based airlines like United, etc. that frequently come up and down the aisles for drinks, even on a four hour flight. But for my 8 – 10 hour flight to Dublin, I think I saw the drink cart come down like twice in that span. It was very odd, and I think they expect passengers to just walk up to the attendant areas (where they store the food and drink) and just grab stuff.
Their website is really bad to deal with. It’s super confusing and limiting in what you can do, and once you check in and select your seat, it’s basically impossible to go view your seat assignment or change your seat (something I do pretty frequently on other airlines’ websites).

Aer Lingus has re-​instated their non-​stop to Dublin from SFO, with that said it is still pricier than other carriers, which I would not mind so much if they would at least provide free alcohol. They are one of the few international carriers that charges for drinks, in addition they announce that if you want wine with dinner you had better buy two drinks when they come through, I assume that is not the case in FIrst Class (which by the way cost $ 7500 according to one passenger).
I would have awarded 3 stars but after our recent Aer Lingus experience at Dublin Airport (Terminal 2) there is no way they deserve more than two stars. Unfortunately long lines and frustrated passengers seem to be the norm (according to several other friends who have returned via DUB/​Aer Lingus). See my review of Dublin airport.

A great first international flight experience. Yes you don’t get a huge amount of leg room, but I don’t think you get that on any airline anymore. I usually fly Southwest for normal travel and this was far superior than that. The in flight entertainment was a great surprise. The selection is limited but still great to have.
If your have dietary requirements just READ when you are booking. I heard several people complain on the flight about being vegan or vegetarian and having no option. I’m not a huge reader when I book things, I tend to assume there are standard fees and I’m not canceling so I’m fine with whatever comes up. But I even noticed the disclaimer to request a special meal when I booked my flight. So please Read!
Overall the service was fine. My attendants were pleasant and they got me from point A to point B efficiently and on time. I’ll fly them again and honestly can’t wait to book my next trip!

This airline is 100 times better than Ryan Air, ok for short flights. I still prefer the comfort of British Airways or Luftansa for long hauls. If AL goes the way of Ryan Air i will swim of the island

This airline gets 2 stars just for the fact that it is relatively cheap and the staff are quite nice.
But, I want to give it less — here’s why:
— You’re forced to sit through a various amount of commercials for their goods, services, and charity programs. It looks humiliating to the flight attendants who are doing up and down the aisles with duty free goods.
— It’s a little cramped — luckily, I had aisle seats, but otherwise my transatlantic flight would have been much more uncomfortable.
— They do not cater well to alternative dieting. Hidden in their ticketing process, so they claim, you can request a specific meal. I’m a vegetarian and so am always very thorough. Because they are so concerned with up-​selling to a better meal, they don’t emphasize or really give an option for alternative meal. Instead, you are to contact the airline directly to let them you. The reason I say they ‘claim’ you can do it online is that I honestly don’t think you can — and the flight attendants told me I should have called.
It is the 21^st century — not everyone eats chicken or beef. They had one vegetarian meal on board for a huge plane and, by the time they got to me, had already given it away. 6 hour transatlantic flight and no dinner.
The flight crew was nice about it and tried to give me more rolls.
Honestly, I’m quite sick of vegetarianism being treated like it’s completely alien. Having a meat and non-​meat option, if you only have two, seems best. Proactively, they need to stop trying to sell you more things and take care of the base concerns.
I would have maybe even bought an up-​sell meal — that is, if one of them was vegetarian. They don’t even offer a ‘deluxe’ meal for vegetarians. So, apparently, they don’t want our money.
So, I just wanted to share so that if you have dietary restrictions, please contact to get the right meal. I don’t want anyone else to get stuck like me!

I recently rode four flights operated by Aer Lingus, as my companion and I had a vacation to Boston and NYC recently. We flew from Berlin to Boston, and New York to Berlin, both via Dublin.
The long-​haul flights were great. Given the geographical proximity of Ireland to North America, the flights were shorter compared to other trans-​Atlantic flights I have taken. Service was good, and the flight overall was uneventful and smooth.
The short-​haul flights were okay. The cabin was a little cramp, since if you fly within Europe, it’s basically a low-​cost carrier. There were more passengers carrying in cabin luggage. But heck, we still got there, and the flights were uneventful and smooth as well.
I loved the boarding process of this airline: it is straight-​forward, instead of doing a window-​to-​aisle sequence, or a platinum-​to-​gold-​to-​silver sequence, no complicated sequencing at all. Just plain old back to front boarding, and we were up and running in no time.

Let me start with the good points: our flights were safe, on-​time, and the flight attendants were pleasant.
However, I booked two one way flights via their website a few months back, which were for travel this past week (starting May 22). This was initially done online. I chose my seats when I booked the flights.
Somehow the seats were «unchosen» for 3 our of 4 of my flights when I called to inquire about changing one segment, a couple of months back.
I called on two different occasions and spoke to two different customer service representatives. Both were actually quite rude.
The first woman I spoke with asked me «why did you not chose the destination you are changing your flight to to originally?» in quite an accusatory and persecutory manor. (I originally booked to London, but then changed to Manchester, when I realized it would be about the same price, and much closer to my destination — Sheffield, England.) In all honesty, I wished I had not made this mistake, but, as a traveler and paying customer, I’m not quite sure why she needed to know this answer. It certainly did not appear that she was asking to be helpful, but it felt like it was more intended to shame me. She advised me that only one set of seats had been held at this point, the other 3 segments did not have seating assignments booked.
I called back a couple weeks later to confirm that I was changing one segment of flights, and to choose my seats (again). This time, I had a gentleman, who confirmed I did not have seating assignments for 3 of the segments. When I asked how this was possible, when I remember selecting them all (and the first leg’s seating assignment — did (somehow) get saved), he stated he did not know and rather abruptly asked «if [I] wanted help booking the seats now, or not?» I felt like he did not want to be bothered helping to correct this.
Additionally, as we had ordered food for all four segments, I asked if the food we had pre-​paid for from Dublin to London could be added on to the Dublin to Manchester flight? He stated he was unsure, but thought so. He also said, if it was a problem, someone would call me to confirm. The food was not transferred to this, but I never heard from anyone about it. Between myself and my traveling companion, we spent over two thousand dollars, I would hope a $ 10 meal for each of us (that we paid for) could be transferred to the new flight. We kindly requested a meal, refund or credit. None of which happened.
Furthermore, nothing on the 3,000 mile journey was included. Water was provided in 3 oz. containers that were passed out one time only during the flight. I mean, it’s water!!!
Additionally, I am a member of Jet Blue’s frequent flier program, and was advised even though Are Lingus and Jet Blue are partners, I am not eligible to receive mileage credit for these flights. I am unsure why this is the case. At the airport, I inquired about this and I was credited for miles on the short flight I was about to take. However, I was told I could not get credit for the transatlantic flight I had just taken.
I was very turned off by both my interactions with your customer support phone line, so much so that I was dreading calling about these items, therefore, I am chose to email two different customer service addresses. 10 days ago. And no response. There are many stresses going on currently while we prepared and are traveling, I would have loved it if these were not them.

) to book my first trip to Ireland and I was not disappointed.
The website was easy to navigate and I found extremely good pricing with a variety of package options to choose from. I called prior to booking online to ask a question and found the customer service representative to be helpful. She gave me the tip to book the trip online instead of with her over the phone to save a few dollars.
My itinerary arrived via email with each hotel stay, flight, and our rail service listed in an easy to understand way.
The trip itself was gorgeous with zero snags from Aer Lingus for flights, hotels or the rail service. We met several other people during our vacation that also used Aer Lingus to book and they all echoed with the same excellent experience. I recommend whole hardheartedly if you are considering booking a trip to Ireland!

My basic airline needs checklist: 1) depart and arrive on time. 2) do number 1 safely, and 3) do number 1 without misplacing my bags. Yes, Aer Lingus hit all three, awarding it a average rating.
I was confused by how they issued boarding passes at their gate, which caused some troubles as we transferred from another airline. We got stuck and had to call, delaying our transfer and causing lots of extra work on everyone which could have been easily avoided had our original airline been able to issue a boarding pass. I’ve had to travel with multiple airlines before and there has never been an issue, hence the «Meh. I’ve experience better» rating.

I’m not necessarily a particularly well travelled person but regardless of where I’m going I tend to have to start my journey from Dublin Airport, seeing as that’s where I’m from. I’ve always found Dublin Airport such a rush job! Rushing every where long lines, & everything is quite dated.
That is until I went to terminal 2! Oh my GOD I love it there. Everyone is so pleasant & so much more relaxed. Security seems to move much more quickly and the food options through security are decent enough too! Now my experience has been limited to just Aer Lingus when I do travel through here but all the Aer Lingus gates are within a reasonable distance, all the staff are so friendly & everything in Terminal 2 seems so shiney & new.
They’ve also just recently added a Butlers Café, just what you need before you leave Ireland for a period of time, a last bite of Irish Chocolate!

Flew from JFK to Shannon Airport.
No issues with checking in or delays at all.
Flight was smooth and the attendants were very friendly. They even advised us as to where we can see sheeps in Ireland. The planes also look super cute. They’re white and green and has a cute shamrock on the airplane tail.

compared to the other so called Irish airline which seems to be so hated in this country Aer Lingus at least have a smile for each of their passengers. The last flight i took was in a tiny little plane but the staff were so helpful trying to get all the bags stowed away in overhead lockers and under seats. Not once did they try to get a major fee off people in order to make them pay more and more.
I’ve never lost luggage, nor been oversold too on a short flight, never been put onto a wrong plane, yes all these things happened on Ireland’s low cost plane and therefore for these reasons prefer Aerlingus.
