An absolute gem of a restaurant found in the middle of nowhere. The Yue Chinese restaurant is tucked away in the belly of the Gold Coast Hotel– there may be some of you asking where is this place. This hotel is at the tip of the Gold Coast Beach in Tuen Mun and it is slightly off the beaten track to most tourists and even some locals. Despite the Gold Coast development being heavily populated I doubt a lot of people would actually come down here for food. I was here for a family lunch– this was after someone had heard that this was a Michelin accredited restaurant(don’t know how many stars) and we all thought we should give it a try. Result? Absolute surprise and delight. we had ordered a mixture of dim sum and main courses to be shared amongst some 10 people. The dim sum were presented individually and I can say that its one of the best dim sum I have had in Hong Kong. The main courses were bit of a mixture– such as lobster bisque Chinese style and there was the local favourite Siu Mei which was out of this world. Prices wise it is a little on the high side for this side of town, however, I would not compare this place to anything local because it is streets ahead in terms offood and service quality. I would never have thought something this good could be made from such a mediocre hotel; will definitely return!
