Nestled away in the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, Walt’s Café is set in the Victorian Era. With a view of the water and the hedge maze outside, amidst the lovely thematic hotel, the Café certainly had a classic feel. We were very pleased with our experience here for Christmas Day lunch. It ended up being the highlight of the day. We had a choice of mains with salads and desserts on the buffet. Coffee and tea were free flowing and each coffee was made individually with a crème, not a brewed coffee from a pot. The buffet wasn’t large, but it was quality all the way. The Salad Bar included prawns, smoked salmon, scallops, fresh mozzarella with the option to add fresh pesto, balsamic and oil and a few pre mixed salads including potato. Each item surprisingly tasty, with the seafood and mozzarella being exceptional. There were a few options for desserts, enough for you to try one of each without feeling overwhelmed like some bars. The best one here is what I shall call a Mickey Moose, chocolate mousse with a few added elements and a shell in the shape of Mickey Mouse. Delicious! The buffet was impressive and filling enough, but we still had the main to go. My companion had a traditional Christmas turkey lunch, while I opted for the lobster Benedict. There were about 4 mains to choose from, something to entice most tastes. The techniques and tastes on display were more sophisticated than the average restaurant. It would be well worth calling ahead to make sure you have a seat. Although free, the shuttle is quite a few minutes walk from the front entrance of Disneyland, a trek you wouldn’t want to make without guarantees unless you happened to be staying at the hotel itself. All in all, highly recommended if you’re passing through.
