The waffles were great when this place first opened. Waffles were light and crispy. Now, however, after the owner and chef employed other people to start making the food, this place has no longer been the same.

From sweet to savory waffles, they have a wide variety of each to choose from! Their batter was good, but not the best for waffles that I have tried. It’s hard to judge this place since it is right next to another sweet dessert shop, which has hovering people next door — Via Tokyo! It’s visual competition. You go where the crowd goes? I thought it was good and the smell that this shop exudes, compels you to give it a try!

I am not sure if being next to Via Tokyo helped or hurt their business… I always come this way because of Via Tokyo but I am always too full to try Waffills afterwards. Finally on one faithful day I ordered one of the signature waffles and shared it with my friends. It was good but quite pricey and it didn’t blow my away. However, the owner is very nice.

The pulled pork is not quite like the American one, but the flavor is still good. The entire waffle tastes like the Mexican Zapato with cheese, pork and some other stuff inside. The waffle outside is also nicely toasted. I enjoyed my waffle a lot after an ice cream from Via Tokyo. On the other hand, they also have chipotle flavor, chicken flavor and others. They offer both sweet and salted waffles. I will try their sweet one next time. It’s a very small shop with Via Tokyo next door. They have visitors posted notes about their experience on the wall as well, quite cute.

Waffills = Filled waffles! Ingenious, haha. What’s awesome about Waffills is that it has sweet waffles as well as vegetarian savory waffles. Yummm. I was only able to eat their sweet Brussels Waffle Premium since I had dinner with friends right before. I shall be back for the savory one! I shared this Brussels Waffle Premium with my friend, Emily. We both devoured this waffle as soon as it came out. I was just in Brussels for Easter back in April and I have to say, the waffles here are definitely lightyears better than the waffles I tried in Belgium! Crazy, right? To be fair, the Belgium waffles I had in Brussels were too thick and sticky for my taste. On the contrary, the waffle at Waffills is light and crispy — score! Emily was a bit worried getting waffles after eating Italian for dinner, in the sense that it would be on the heavy side, but this waffle was the best way to end the night because it was just really good. I love that it’s light, fluffy, and crispy. Yum! :) Personally, I liked the waffle better with the ice cream better than with the whipped cream. You can get additional ice cream scoops for additional price, but we figured we’d be good with one scoop this time around. Waffills is right next to Via Tokyo. It’s tiny with a few seats inside the store and standing space with a high counter right outside the restaurant. I’m not a waffles fan, but right now I am a fan of Waffills. So, definitely check this place out if you want to try something new in Hong Kong and get your sweets on!

HK has been on somewhat of a waffle and toast craze lately, but Waffills takes it to a whole new level with waffles that are FILLED with savory toppings. I’m talking waffles sandwiched with meat! It’s certainly a concept I’d never heard of before. I’d walked past the little store many times before and their menu had things like prawn waffles and cheeseburger waffles, which sounds really interesting. The shop is right next to ever-popular matcha soft serve place Via Tokyo, by the way. I walked past Waffills again the other day with my friends and decided to try it out. I intended on trying one of their savory filled waffles, but since I had just had dinner, and saw that those waffles were quite expensive — more than $ 50, I went for their classic Belgian dessert waffle and got that instead. At $ 34 for a modestly small piece of waffle, it was pretty expensive. Just as I handed over my money, I kind of regretted it. In my mind, I thought to myself — how special could a plain waffle be? And I was right — the waffle was nothing to write home about at all. It was, I would say, looser and softer than most waffles I’d tried, but it wasn’t spectacular. There was just some cream and chocolate sauce on it. If there were lots of fruits on top, then that possibly would’ve justified its high price. I also didn’t like that the shop doesn’t really have any seating, so you have to get your waffles to-go. To be fair, I think my not-so-positive view of Waffills is because I didn’t try their savory filled once, which are after all what they’re known for. But I just couldn’t bring myself to it — $ 50+ for a waffle? That’s a pretty hefty price tag — maybe I’ll bring myself to trying it next time, but until then, I guess my review isn’t much help!
