Hands down 5 stars just for their egg custard croissants!!! I love egg custard buns and egg tarts in HK dimsum and Urban Bakery just upped it another notch with their egg custard croissant! It has that soft, runny, sweet, egg custard filling with a flakey, crispy croissant on the outside to compliment it! Love getting it as an afternoon snack or as a quick morning bite! Make sure to ask for them to heat it up or else the egg custard inside will not be runny! The chocolate croissant here is also not bad, although I’m not a big fan of milk chocolate. They have a variety of other pastries too that I can’t wait to try! This place actually serves other foods/sandwiches which I have yet to try so I will rate them on a separate review. The coffee here is pretty good as well, pretty similar to Starbucks.

Urban Bakery has THE best croissants in town. Peanut Butter croissant is my all time favorite!!! Totally recommend you getting it, and certainly worth the $ 22. Tip: Ask them to warm it up for you so the PB is just oh so deliciously melty and yummy. P. S. I also just noticed they have Cider on tap. Oh what? I’ll be back for you later.

A better alternative to pret a manger. Pick up food and then get in line to order beverage and pay. Seating area gets busy during peak lunch hour but turnover is high.

The 3 Stars is just for the Egg yolk custard croissant… I was wondering what the raves were all about… I will be the first to saty that I DIDNOTLIKEIT… ATALL… =P. I wouldn’t go as far to say that it was horrible. The texture of the croissant is itself is perfect and the smoothness of the custard is enticing… But I do believe that my western tastebuds didn’t take to well to the«egg-yolk-custard-taste»…I’d still encourage you to try it as the raves must mean something. Other than that, Urban Bakery Works is worth the visit to try their other breads, cakes, sandwiches and salads. Also, a cozy place to catch up with an old friend. I’d say it’s a bit on the noisy side, but if you don’t mind the background chatter, then you’ll be ok!

One of the best croissant in town. I love their Langoutine Croissandwich with Curry Emulsion, and the double ham and brie croissandwich be my second love. Their salad bar is a good bargain, i mean in Central area. $ 58 for three choice and $ 78 for five. The big one i think is for two people portion. Good place to chill-out in ‘non-lunch’ hour though staff are not quite friendly. Highly recommend !

Mon dieu! It means Oh. My. Gizzle. Molten yolk /flowing custard croissant 流奶牛角包, shortened to 流奶. It was one of the greatest moments in my mouth during my recent Hong Kong trip. It apparently replaced the pineapple butter croissant, which was basically the classic HK pineapple butter bun, but instead of a bun it was a croissant. This beautiful creation is basically taking the yum cha dim sum«lao sa bao»(flowing salty egg yolk custard steamed bun) but putting regular sweet molten custard inside a perfectly flakey crispy delicate layered croissant. At $ 22 and from a visitor’s standpoint, a really good value for the quality. It may seem like a modern gimmick, but when you taste it, you cannot believe how perfect the fusion became. There was a lot of thought put into this, down to the execution, and the results speak for themselves! Even their standard plain croissant kicked so much ass, and I liked it way better than nearby Le Salon de The Joel Robuchon, which I had a day later and found it to be severely lacking. Apparently Urban Bakery’s version(this particular location) comes closest to the Paris experience, and easily outperforms most croissants in San Francisco Bay Area.

Almost the cheapest happy hour in Central! I enjoyed the HKD100 all you can drink last time there…

Everyone in Hong Kong knows URBAN Bakery. It’s that crazy bakery in Hysan Place that had half of Hong Kong line up for some langoustine croissant sandwich, packaged in what looks like a limited-edition sneaker shoebox. When I read about its first dine-in restaurant, I’m stoked. The open-plan restaurant is very edgy. The communal table has a tongue-in-cheek message laid out in black and white mosaic. The napkins also had cheeky messages which I think it’s too much of an overkill. Everyone knows that those who try too hard to be cool will inadvertently uncool themselves, resulting in lameness. However, it has a really genuinely cook feature wall created by Portuguese graffiti artist/sculptor VHILS, who is famous for his unique drill-and-chisel graffiti that combines human portrait and typography. Apart from Bibo, this is the second time I see VHILS in a restaurant. The art lover in me hopes he won’t become too commercialized and stay true to his street roots. The layout of the restaurant is somewhat like a glorifies mess hall where you line up and point out what you want thru glass windows. Some items are assembled fresh, such as the 8 hr duck confit sandwich with Dijon mustard and rockets, which I think is the bomb. The duck confit is fried on a paella pan and assembled on a roll. The duck is juicy and crispy, its fattiness being cut down by the tangy mustard and bitter rocket leaves. The famous namesake, langoustine and curry emulsion crossandwich is also sold here. Desserts are quite creative here, namely the m&m’s and kit kat cake(forgot the name) and Macallen 12 years whiskey ice cream. It’s an interesting concept, and the food is good. But as I said, they try way too hard to be cool.

Looking for a good salad? Urban Bakery Works has got your back! Located on the third floor of The Landmark in Central, Urban is a little café-deli type offering salads, sandwiches, coffee and even cocktails! It’s catered mostly for those working in The Landmark or nearby, so expect to see a lot of people donning suits and laptops there. I love how Urban is decorated — there’s a large communal table by the entrance, and smaller tables on the inside. The whole place has a kind of café slash European diner feel with its abstract art paintings and the words URBAN in bright neon lights. The cutlery that they give you is pretty creative — it’s silvery sheen makes it look deceivingly like metal, but it’s actually plastic! I get the same thing every time I’m here — the $ 55 for a small salad, where you get to pick three different types of salads. The salads rotate often, but my favorite is their classic Caesar and this eggplant with tomato and miso. The box for the small salad looks small, but they pack the salad really tightly until there’s literally no room for any more. For $ 55, I think it’s a good deal because the salads are delicious, and it leaves me feeling really full and healthy! There’s a slightly more expensive option for the large salad where you can pick five different ones. If I’m here with a friend, I think getting that to share among us would be a good idea! The salads here are always extremely fresh and super crunchy — none of that flimsy, half-dead leaves here. The sauce for them are really good as well and at first, I was worried that having three different salads in a box would mean that the sauces get mixed up a little, since all the salads have their own distinct sauce. But I didn’t happen to taste that at all when I was eating, or maybe they did overrun a little and it tasted good that way! This is a great place to go if you love salad — I can’t speak for the other food items here because I’ve never tried them, but they do a duck confit sandwich that looks absolutely delicious! Maybe if I can convince myself to pull away from my usual salad, I’ll have a go at the sandwich next time!
