I’ve been to The Salted Pig twice — the first time was a couple of months back when my friend and I were at Knutsford Terrace. We decided to come to The Salted Pig and we each had one of their signature alcoholic teas. I got the Sour Apple and my friend got the original. Both were really good — very refreshing! I love anything with sour or tangy undertones, so I loved my Sour Apple tea! Today, I went again as my mother and I were attracted to the Restaurant Week deal that they were offering. I initially booked it for 1:15 today, but since it was raining pretty hard, I called to postpone it tomorrow — but then it stopped raining completely and since we didn’t have anything to do today, we decided to change it back to today and go. The lady on the phone was really nice about it and told us that 1:45 is fine for us to come. There’s a special Restaurant Week menu, but these items are on the regular menu as well. For the appetizers, we both chose the smoked salmon and crab timbale. It was a really good combination, but you could see that some of the crab wrapped in the salmon was canned. The dipping sauce that came with it was really nice — it had a sort of lemony, tartar taste that I really liked! And then our main course arrived — the pork knuckle for two! I quite liked this — the pork was super tender and be skin was really crispy. There wasn’t too much fat either. However, I felt like I was done after my third or fourth piece. Not that I was full, but somehow I just felt that my taste buds had gotten sick of the taste of the pork knuckle, if that makes sense! I would have liked if there was less pork knuckle and maybe some, say, roasted potato to go with it. There were roasted carrots but they were kind of soggy. Our dessert was summer bread pudding with mixed berries. There wasn’t a choice for this, but I love berries so I probably would have picked that one anyway even if there was! It was more of a slice of cake than a pudding, and I really liked it because it was super sour! I’ve never had a cake this sour. It’s even a little hard to eat because it’s so sour — my mother was cringing with every bite and couldn’t even finish it. Overall, I thought the food here was slightly above average, but a little expensive. A regular dinner here would probably set you back around $ 400, or more if you’re having a drink to go with it! That being said, I really did like their alcoholic teas. If I’m ever back here, it would probably be to have another one of their teas than to have a meal.
