I travel to Hong Kong often, and have stayed at many of the 5-star hotels. This was my first time at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, however, and it was in all respects an absolutely exceptional experience! The room was impressive — spacious, uniquely designed and extremely comfortable with a fantastic rain shower and huge 7′ round luxury tub! The floor to ceiling glass windows behind the vanity was really unique, yet with full privacy available with power blinds at the touch of a button. The minibar is one of the most well outfitted I’ve seen, and the desk comprehensively supplied as well. Everything worked flawlessly, and on the rare occasion that I needed something not already in the room, such as an ironing board, the staff responded instantly and with the greatest amount of efficiency and courtesy. I was very impressed that not only was an iron and board delivered within minutes, but also a large tray of ironing sprays and supplies! This is just one small example of the thoughtfulness and anticipation of guests needs demonstrated throughout my stay. The MO Bar was equally great for breakfast with a very delicious and comprehensive buffet with both eastern and western options on offer, as well a lot of fun in the evenings with some really unique cocktail offerings, a great vibe and super service. I had the opportunity to enjoy the Mandarin Oriental Spa as well, and it was exceptional in all respects. One of the things I really appreciated, is that there was no sales pitch at the end pushing lotions and potions. While they certainly have many fine products available, it was so nice to be able to browse leisurely without the uncomfortable sales pressure so many other high end spas employ. The staff throughout the hotel was consistently extremely welcoming, always available, yet never intrusive — they really have this mastered. This was my first stay at a Mandarin Oriental property, and at first I was surprised to discover that they have no loyalty program. I now understand why — loyalty is truly earned here the good old fashioned way based on the outstanding product they offer rather than through artificial means. How refreshing! Kudos to the MO — I’m a BIG fan, and look forward to returning soon!

I’m writing this review for the spa at the landmark oriental. There is also a great spa at the old landmark but I prefer the landmark oriental one better. Here’s why: its new, bigger and has nicer facilities/amenities. The landmark oriental spa probably the best spa I’ve been to on Hong kong besides the four seasons. But the price is much more expensive at the four seasons so I am very happy at the MO. I usually come here for the signature spa massage and facials. Is usually come two hours earlier and use their spa facilities such as the crystal steam room which is amazing and not to mention pore cleansing. A good sweat with all the moisture in the air is very purifying for my lungs especially if you’ve been running around in the city of Hong Kong’s polluted air! I stay in there for a long time then proceed to the sauna. It is not a typical European sauna where you throw water on hot stone and it steams the sauna. Its all heated marble so when you sweat it real sweat that comes out from you generating internally from your body and not vapor/steam induced. This process is natural and healing/detoxifying. I love the massages here. Their masseuses are generally all very good. They have a quiet resting area for you to drink their complimentary ginger tea and free bananas, blueberries and nuts for you to snack throughout your spa day. Amazing spa. 5 stars.
