The Hair of the Dog

Just okay. Happy hour specials and peanut shells to throw on the floor. I did like the fact that there is free wifi, but you have to ask for the password.

As someone who spends a lot of time writing about bars I do seem to get stuck sometimes– that’s because I don’t actually try out a lot of different drinks; I just have a lot of my favourite and stick to it. The second reason is that the more I enjoy myself, the more I forget and that tends to be a problem when you are trying to remember specifically how much a pint of Stella costs at which bar– I couldn’t even remember what time I left never mind the prices.
This brings me here to the Hair of the Dog. I have been here on two occasions– the earlier of which I can only say that its a street side bar in TST and they sere just about every single beer that you could think of. Prices are mainstream and seating is alright at best– the obsession with high chairs mean that you can never get really cozy.
The second occasion, and more importantly, is why I am writing about this place. We go to bars to drink until our bodies clock off– where do people who work in bars go to when they clock off? Yes, this is the place they go to. The Hair of the Dog has the reputation of being closing earliest/​latest (depending on how you see it) whereby bar workers can actually leave work, come here and still enjoy downing a few pints before hitting the road. Not quite sure if this is a claim to fame but if you really wanted to go somewhere– really late/​early– then I would definitely recommend coming here.
Much like the other pubs I write about– they do serve food but I haven’t tried it– but I guess most of us won’t be going there expect gourmet food anyways.
