Tartine is a cute new French restaurant that offers various open-faced sandwiches that are amazing in quality with a great lunch set menu. I tried the Lobster & Homemade Béchamel sandwich and the Goat Cheese with Roasted Figs sandwich. The lobster roll tasted like the ones in New York or Boston, but with a creamier sauce(and cheese!!!) on top of sourdough. It’s like an enhanced lobster roll. So amazing. The lobster tartine also came with a lobster bisque that was lovely and the perfect accent to the sandwich. The Goat Cheese and Roasted Figs sandwich came with parma ham and arugula, all on top of sourdough. It seemed like such an eclectic mix of ingredients, but the combination of the flavours and textures made this a really nice surprise. The sweetness of the figs balanced well with arugula, which was more bitter, as well as the soft cheese. The food is designed to share, and it may seem small to some at first, but it was definitely very filling due to the ingredients. It’s difficult to find good French cuisine at an affordable price in Hong Kong, but Tartine is definitely one on my list due to the absolutely amazing food.

With a cozy chic second and third floor location along the famous Mid-Levels escalator, Tartine is a real gem with its small but well-edited set lunch menu(choose two courses or three) and its friendly staff. The shrimp, lobster, and mozzarella/tomato tartines are musts. The shrimp and lobster tartines come with bechamel sauce plus a small cup of lobster bisque which is perfect for pouring over.

The décor The second floor is light and airy atmosphere with plenty of sunlight and a high ceiling. Décor is causal chic with dark wood fllors and gold rimmed marble tables. It’s a wonderful place for lunch or just to chill over some coffee. The third floor is the open air balcony and an even more cozy spot for lazy weekends. I just had a peek but would love to check it out next time. The food Definitely good for a light lunch. I opted for a two course meal that comes with a starter follwed by a tartine. The price is reasonable and quality is good. The quinoa salad is quite refreshing and with a good texture. Crunchy at times and very enjoyable. The Parisian ham and homemade bechamel tartine is also quite enjoyable and feels like a healthy pizza given the slightly burnt cheese on the edges, yum! Also the sourdough bread is superb and has a nice tart flavor which I like. However, it does get soggy fast. Overall a decent parisan eatery and one of kind in hk(so far). If you’re a big eater, but if you’re a big eater, be warned, portions are not filling.
