Tack Hsin Restaurant

Tack hsin was the forerunner to all the other hotpot restaurants out there– it was probably one of the first restaurants to offer hotpot 4 seasons of the year. Nowadays this is certainly nothing new but in the old days there were innovative enough to let people know that we can have hotpot all the time as long as we have the AC on.
Riff raff over– so what is it about this place? Well if you notice that the street and the name of the place is the same in Chinese; yes, the restaurant is actually named after the street because this was the first one opened. How well they have done later on. The store itself is small in comparison to the other locations in the chain but it’s actually ok compared to the old days. Service remains as bad as it has always been (I think most of us have come to expect that from this place).
The food? Well you still get the choice between all you can eat in the other shops or you can order a la carte for the special seafood items and so on. As you will know from experience that all you can eat is fine if you are particular hungry and don’t want to spend too much. Ordering a la carte will let you know that there’s more to quantity and that’s called quality… or is it? Maybe its just me nowadays, being spoiled by all you can eat restaurants so much so that I just don’t see the value of ordering separately anymore. The bill will always end up with something ridiculous anyways.
For me? Go all you can eat, order a hell of a lot of beef and beers– game on!
