My first hotpot experience and it was an absolute beauty! Being full aware we would need to line up for a bit to get a seat we weren’t fazed at all and grabbed a couple of drinks from the 7 – 11 and got in line. The girl was very welcoming and made us feel like we really did want to wait even though we didn’t have an approximate time. Eventually we were offered to head to the branch nearby(this address im reviewing) again the people were great and the food even better. Eyes bigger than our stomachs as always we went nuts. The chicken soup broth. Premium beef. Pork knuckle. Chilli pork intestine. Bowl of veggies, I’ve probably forgotten more too. And as for the wine forst bottle of BYO is FREE. A WAYTOMYHEART. We left after being defeated by the food happy and on a schezuan high. The best sort.

66 Hot Pot is definitely one of my favorite chicken hot pot places. Their lowest spice(BB spice) is just perfect enough to be spicy but not enough to need to take breaks. The spices that they put in the chicken hot pot are also really flavorful. Aside from the chicken, all of the other hot pot ingredients are really fresh and tasty. Their fried fish is one of my favorite things to get there. It’s really thick and crunchy. I’m not sure if they double batter it, but that’s what it feels like. I also love their pork and mushroom balls. It has so much mushroom flavor and it’s super chewy. One of the other things we love to get is the vegetable basket because it covers a wide variety. The corn has always been really sweet and the enoki mushrooms are on point. Aside from the delicious food, the service is really good here. All of the servers are really nice. Because of the hidden location, it’s never really too crowded here. They also do promotions such as early bird specials of getting 15% off if you sit down before 6:30 and return the table by 8.

I’ve had Chicken Hot Pot a few times before and decided to try a new spot. Besides the fact that it is walking distance from my apartment, I was able to discover a lot of new spots in the area. On a weekday we made a reservation for 8pm and when we arrived the restaurant was half-full. We were happy to find a spot that was still a bit hidden away from the 8pm dinner crowd. Background: For Chicken Hot Pot, you are first served Chicken in a pot. It has generally been pre-cooked in the pot with seasoning, sauces and herbs. Then it is brought to your table where it finishes cooking on the portable stove at your table. When ready, you and your food partners-in-crime can eat the pre-seasoned chicken. When you are nearly done or are you ready for a change of flavors, a soup base is added. In this case, it is a choice of spicy or non-spicy soup broth. Then you are able to hot pot(cook pre-selected raw meat and veggies) in the soup broth. Service: The service was overall pretty good. We needed to let them know when we needed refills on our soup base or tea, but the benefit was that we were able to have privacy and not be distracted as we chatted. rice Food: This was the best Chicken Pot I’ve had. This is the about the 4th time I’ve had it and each time it has been better than the previous places I’ve tried. When asked for spiciness level, we chose for it to be slightly spicy, and it was perfect. A bit of tingle that gave the chicken more flavor. The soup broth paired well, and the beef we ordered was very beef-y flavor which was good. We also got the Frozen Tofu(absorbed the soup broth flavor very well!), combo of meatballs(it had about 4 types, and the black cuttlefish ball was very flavorful, and a unique cheese ball that was fishball on the outside and gooey cheese on the inside), basket of veggies, and also some very good and super crunchy fried fish skin(tastes very good dipped in the broth). I would highly recommend this place. My only dilemma is whether to come back for some very good Chicken Hot Pot, or explore and try other places in the area. Tough decisions…
