Place rating: 4 Hong Kong
The charm of this place is knowing that its a true Hong Kong institution. Yes there are better burgers elsewhere, but these little morsels are still great and worth stopping by to try one(or 3 ;) and experience this unique place.

Hong Kong is a place where you can find all kinds of cuisine from all over the world. Unfortunately because of that, it seems like there is not much local brand that survive this cut-throat business(with the ever-rising rent…) Yet, there is one that quietly sits next to the footbridge in Hung Hom. Not only has it withstood the years, it seems like it is still thriving and the number of patrons seems to be growing rapidly still. Opened in 1963, Si Sun Fast Food is acclaimed for its Hong Kong style hamburgers. And I was lucky enough to have my friend told me about this. From the outside, this place looks rather beaten with all the scaffolding on top of it. Nonetheless, you will definitely wonder what the crowd is all about here as you see tons of people waiting for their take-out and most of them I call them are from Poly University. I suppose with its location and the type of food it is serving, it is definitely THE place to be for students there. The Burgers here are very original, definitely unlike Burger King or Burger Room. With less than HKD20, you can order a double cheese and egg hamburger and I did(almost cheaper than getting it at McDonalds…); The fried eggs were scrumptious with the melt cheese dripping everywhere, a sign for nice cheese. If you have a chance, try the Fried Chicken as well because it is definitely something that tastes very local. However, if you are indeed coming here, I recommend getting take-out instead of sitting in there; mainly because the number of diners here and it is rather tiny place with limited tables. As for the service here, it is expected not to compare it to a 5-star hotel service but the food is all that matters to me in to be honest. I am really proud that a local restaurant has made the cut and hopefully it will only go bigger in the future.
