The restaurant is well lit and we were warmly greeted on entering. The menu is interesting because there is a wider selection of sashimi than there is for nigiri sushi; and there is sashimi platters but not a nigiri platter. What is strangest is that they do not offer salmon or tuna nigiri, even though salmon is offered in rolls and in sushi bowls. The food is generally nice, but quite pricey for what it is.

A Japanese shop located conveniently at the Mtr exit. They do takeaway, delivery and dine in. The sell here is neighborhood convenience, but not high quality. I passed by here for a quick lunch, they gave me a takeaway menu, which I couldn’t find minced tuna rice bowl or gunkan on, though I thought that was a basic Japanese dish. Ordered a Mixed Sashimi Rice bowl(HKD50) and was pleasantly surprised to find that you could make it a set for HKD18 more. The salad, misti soup and pickles were fine, but I was unpleasantly surprised to see that the sashimi rice was covered in fake crab meat and tiny morsels of salmon and squid, parading in egg and cucumber cubes to enhance the visual effect. All over a bed of WARM rice. Is rent really that high here that you have to skimp and protect your margin like that? Cuz the Japanese store two streets down doesn’t seem to be suffering from the same issues. It charges around 10% more but Sashimi Rice is actually Sashimi rice, I think customers wouldn’t mind that 10% difference. The one extra star is for the environment. Despite the place using all foldable tables and chairs, it is very spacious and open. Or maybe that’s because there was not a single person when I came at 1 pm. Should have known.
