You can smell pepper lunch from MILESAWAY. Honestly, it takes up the smell of the whole food court and always has a lineup — but definitely worth lining up! Pepper Lunch is like the«original» before Aka Teppan in Markham opened. It consists of meat, eggs, rice and some spices served to you on a nice hot sizzling plate! Make sure you don’t touch the sizzling plate and when you get it, try to stir things up as fast as you can or else it sticks to the bottom. Lastly, please watch your tongue as my tongue gets burnt all the time from the hot plate. The most popular item I would say is their black pepper beef plate. I see a lot of people order it and it’s a fair price as well. Also, come with another person, because the food court seats are almost always full. If there’s two people, one person can grab a seat first. YOUHAVETOTRYITOUTIFYOUGOTOHONGKONG!!!

The first time I had Pepper Lunch was in Indonesia and I’ve been hooked ever since. Pepper Lunch has many locations around the world, but sadly none where I’m from. This sizzling rice, sometimes pasta, place is so heavenly yet simple and surprisingly affordable. Even if you don’t like beef, you can choose between chicken, salmon or pork. The set meals comes with a drink; I recommend the lemon tea! Any dish with the corn niblets is another must for me, since the ones served here are sweet and crisp. For all I know, it may be canned corn, but somehow its really fresh. The cool part about dining at Langham Place food court is the workers who will collect your dishes when you’re done eating. Since it’s my first time here, I didn’t know what to do with my trays and such haha so if you’re in the same predicament just leave them on the table.

I don’t quite remember what I typed into the search bar on Unilocal to have Pepper Lunch pop up. I was scrolling through looking for something to eat within the area and there it was. Pepper Lunch! I immediately jumped up and said we had to eat there. Well, I suggested eating there and my cousin agreed because she loves food, like me, and had heard of Pepper Lunch and I told her that there was only one Pepper Lunch in the entire U.S. and it was in San Jose and that it was not that great, or so I’ve heard. My sister, had her doubts… she hadn’t heard of it and it was located in a food court. Clearly she knows nothing and should never doubt me, because she ended up loving it too. See her review for her thoughts… Anyways, Pepper Lunch is located within the Langham mall food court, despite the fact that there were many choices for food, many of the tables had the iconic Pepper Lunch plate. Pepper Lunch originated in Japan, the founder wanted an easy and quick way to cook a delicious meal. It is basically, a hot skillet with ingredients piled on top, so the ingredients cook on top of the skillet. The doubter(my sister) and I shared the #1, which was rice with, corn, beef, green onions and we added an extra egg. I don’t quite remember how much we paid but it was less than $ 10USD. I grabbed some garlic soy sauce just in case we wanted to mix it in, however the food was so flavorful on its own that it did not require the garlic soy sauce. We mixed everything so that the meat would cook evenly and the flavors would distribute evenly. I would definitely eat here again, the location was great. It was pretty easy to find and had ample seating. The food was delicious! The doubter, our cousin and I enjoyed our meal. If you’re visiting any of the countries that Pepper Lunch is in, I would definitely suggest trying it out, especially since there are supposedly only two locations in the entire North American continent.

While visiting Hong Kong for a few days, my sister wanted to try out this place stating, «THERE’S ONLYONEINCALIFORNIA.» Ok sister… Turns out, it was well worth it. Pepper lunch is basically rice, meat, and vegetables on a hot stone plate. To me, the concept is very similar to Korean Bibimbap but the taste is definitely different. I got the number one, which is steak, rice, corn, and I added an egg. When you get the hot stone plate the meet and egg is raw but as you continuously mix everything around, the food cooks on the stone and it is pure awesomeness! The flank steak is very well flavored and the egg and corn just adds even more deliciousness! They offer garlic soy sauce but I felt that the dish itself was already very flavorful. Here’s to hoping Pepper Lunch comes to SoCal!

It seems like whenever I am in MK, and I don’t know where to eat, Pepper Lunch is the way to go. All the other sit-down restaurants in Langham always have such a LONG time. But don’t get me wrong, this place usually has a line too. Just not as long. I usually get the beef/corn/rice and load it with their garlic sauce. That dish really hits the spot. I wanted to get the salmon instead, but they were sold out. I imagine it to be just as satisfying. I guess next time I visit HK!

I love Pepper Lunch! I’d say it’s the best place to get food within Langham Place. You’ll notice that the majority of the food court will have sizzling plates from here, which is why this food court always smells so amazing. The most popular dish is the black pepper beef plate. The rice is put in the center of the plate with all the meat surrounding it in a concentric circle, and corn and place at the center of the rice. You’re supposed to mix it up in your plate as it is still sizzling. Do it quickly because pretty soon the meat will be done cooking, and the meal tastes a lot better if mix things up before it’s done(i.e. cooled off). You can add some other things to your plate, including onion and eggs, and even cheese. The tables in the food court are usually filled, and you don’t want to stand around waiting for a table to open while your food is still sizzling, so I recommend having one friend grab and hold on to a table first while you and the rest of your friends get food.
