I admit the colorful XLB’s caught my eye and I HAD to try them. It was definitely a novelty, they are supposedly made with natural food coloring instead of chemical food coloring so that’s a marketing ploy of being more healthy. With the flavors of original, crab roe, sichuan, garlic, cheese, black truffle, foie gras, and ginseng. I liked the crab roe and black truffle one the best. One thing about Shanghainese food is that some of the dishes can be a bit oily so that’s what we experienced with their noodles. However, their green onion pancake was fantastic — it was perfectly fried and not oily yet crispy and flaky. That was the best green onion pancake I’ve ever had. The decoration inside is traditional with dark lighting and had a nice water feature in the middle of the restaurant. Service was a bit slow but I didn’t mind, we had a leisurely late lunch and enjoyed our rainbow XLB and crispy green onion pancakes.

I love xiao long bao. And after 3 days in HK, stumbling on the photo of rainbow colored xiao long bao I could not contain myself. We went in and ordered two of the mixed dumplings and one bowl of noodles. We had a really fun time trying the different colors together one at a time and trying to remember and guess the flavor. The classic is still my favorite, but the sichuan and the truffle were quite good too. Coming back another time I wouls just opt for the classic xiao long bao though. Still, paradise dynasty deserves credit for creating such a fun dining experience! Often I find that we gobble up our food without really stopping to sense all of the flavors, but this time we really took our time and talked about what we thought each dumpling was. The noodles looked nothing like the photo, but were very good, so I can forgive the lack of presentation. The restaurant itself is very popular. Its a family place, and quickly gets very loud, so watch out if you have sensitive hearing. Also, they charge 7HKD for tea and add 10% in service charge, fyi. For a full list of all extra charges, skip to the back of their menu, which reads like those terms and conditions we all click accept to not knowing if we just sold our grandmas or what not.

Ugh… two words. Rainbow Dumpling! Came in here after seeing the beautiful photos, and I was impressed! This dim sum spot is a little on the pricer side, but completely worth it. As each dumpling was a different flavor, I ordered two of the combos(one for each of us), as well as the recommended Schezuan crispy chicken. The dumplings came out pretty quickly, and I was surprised to see that each one was a different flavor. They had crab roe, original, truffle, foie gras, schezuan, cheese, garlic, and ginseng. The skin of the dumpling was thin like Din Tai Fung, and the inside was so juicy! The flavor really bursted in my mouth and I was impressed at how yummy they tasted. I can see why these were more expensive as they offered gourmet flavors such as truffle and foie gras. I had so much fun trying all of the flavors, and the different flavors intertwined with the dumpling really well. My personal favorite was cheese, truffle, and foie gras, but all of them were amazing! The crispy chicken was super addicting as it was battered to a crisp and the inside was yummy. The Schezuan spice really complemented the chicken, and it wasn’t too spicy or too mild. I ate it with rice, and we killed everything between the two of us! I was overall extremely impressed with the dim sum dishes that I ordered here– they are the only place that I know of that does flavored dumplings and they do an amazing job. They do have happy hour where everything is half off, so capitalize on that! I need to bring a bigger party so that I can try the other dishes here!

I was attracted by their signature 8-flavour Xiao Lung Bao and came here for a try. The rainbow-coloured Xiao Lung Bao were just so-so. They could not surprise me at all. The original Xiao Lung Bao tasted the best out of the eight flavours. I would rather recommend their fried rice. It tasted surprisingly great! The texture of the rice was exactly what I like, not too soft or too hard, it was not oily and got a lot of ingredients. If you are visiting this place, their fried rice is a must-try!

Amazing xlb. I never like xlb until I had the xlb here. I ordered the combination and really love it. The skin is really thin with lots of juice inside. Other dishes I ordered include combo jelly fish, spicy chicken and plum rib. All are good. Will cone back again for the happy hour very soo !

The different and exotic flavored xiao long baos drew me into trying Paradise Dynasty. So it’s no surprise that I ordered the 8-flavor signature dynasty XLBs, which included one of each of original, ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheese, crab roe, garlic, and Szechuan flavors. For optimal taste and flavor appreciation, it’s best eaten in the aforementioned order, from the simplest/lightest to the most flavorful/heaviest. The different flavors are noted in both the soup and the skin. The skins were delicate and chewy, and the pork meatballs were juicy and delicious. My personal favorites were the cheese and truffle flavors(both very mild). The garlic and Szechuan flavors were very strong and had a nice kick to them, which is why those two are eaten near the end. The pan-fried pork XLBs were tasty too. The soft, fluffy buns were chewy and housed a delicious, meaty chunk of ground pork and soup, much to my surprise. All the pan-fried XLBs I’ve had in the past never had soup in them. They were fried lightly enough to have a golden brown crust on the bottom, but not too oily overall. This restaurant is huge and accommodates groups very well. It’s a very dark restaurant overall, almost unwelcoming, but well lit above all the tables. The strip of water with lotus flower lighting in the middle of the restaurant does give this place a cool, upscale aspect though. Located inside the Lee Theater Plaza mall, Paradise Dynasty wasn’t too difficult to find on the 6th floor. And if unconventional flavors for XLB don’t sound appetizing, you can’t go wrong with a basket of the original ones.

A great place for comfortable seatings, great ambience and good enough shanghaiese food! The reason I said good enough for food is that it is not the best and most authentic shanghaiese food, but definitely a great place if you want to sit comfortably for a meal with friends especially if you can’t get used to the busy crowded space you get in Hong kong. For food, the 8 colors xiao long bao is for sure a must try if it’s your first time. It’s pretty interesting but I will go for a traditional ones next time if I go back. The XLB is a bit on the dry side, for what XLB is famous for– the soup bun. But it’s not bad. I like the foie gras flavor the most. I think it’s a good mix. On the contrary the truffle one doesn’t have enough truffle flavor much. We also ordered the direct translate from Chinese«saliva chicken», egg white with crab meat and 3 color eggs. They are all quite decent. As an egg-lover, I do like both egg dishes. And the«saliva chicken» is just a spicy chicken, but pretty soft and tender. Oh and not to mention their happy hour is from M-F 3 pm to 5 pm! Must return during this hour to try out their soup noodle and other dishes next time !

An up-and-coming Shanghainese restaurant! Loved their Xiao Long Baos. Personally I think that the rainbow Xiao Long Bao is just for flashy marketing. I truly liked the original Xiao Long Baos though. Thin wrapping with flavorful soup inside, the dish is definitely top-notch. A trick for eating the Xiao Long Bao is to hold it with a spoon, bite a small hole up top and drink some of the soup before you put the entire Xiao Long Bao in your mouth! The soup is quite hot! Another recommendation would be the radish pastry! The level of deliciousness reminds me of the restaurant Crystal Jade when it first came out. A must-try! The scallion pancake is another surprise. Crunchy on the outside with flavorful fillings. The Grandma Pork Belly looked really yummy and fatty but it wasn’t that greasy after all. The meat was made on point with some fat on top, but mostly thin meat at the bottom. I’d definitely come back!

A-OK. After reading quite some mixed reviews. I’m here to try it myself finally. In short… Very polished décor. Lovely to have some running water /pond inside the restaurant. But it’s funny to see they were actually running out of space and adding tables outside of the restaurant. Average xiao long bao. Xiao long baos in 8 flavors are their main selling dish. But when I tried them, they were text-book case over-hyped gimmicky dish that never meet the standard. I tried the original flavor, so it’s fair to say they know very little about making a good xiao lung bao. All other flavors gave you a trace of said flavor(with or without the actual ingredients), which came with, again, a below-average actual xiao long bao. Having said that, the other dishes were actually great and saved some points. Sweet and sour pork, the fish fillet and the fried sliced pork with brown sauce(醬爆肉絲) are all very lovely(in a portion just enough to share for a family of five). So you make the call. You can definitely come here to try all other dishes, and have a fear of missing out, or you can order the XLB, and to find the disappointment I did.

Mm. Their assorted steamed shanghai dumplings were something else. The truffle and cheese flavors got me addicted! They are located in the mall and not hard to find at all! Do make a reservation for lunch time as it can get crowded.

Another chapter in my book of XLB /小籠包 adventures ^_^ Paradise Dynasty comes a close second after Crystal Jade but that’s only because I am an absolute snob and perfectionist when it comes to XLB. Overall Paradise Dynasty is pricey but has excellent quality and scores off the charts in ambiance, with a water fountain flowing through the middle of the restaurant. [THEXLB] XLB /皇朝小籠包: Personally I am oldschool and I prefer traditional no-frills XLB, but I think the 8 flavor XLB special is worth trying(plus they are extremely photogenic) 1. Original: Broth could be a little richer in my opinion, but overall quite on point 2. Cheesy: At first I dismissed this as gimicky and unnecessarily cheesy(pun intended), but it turned out surprisingly good. 3. Schezuan: Definitely not at the Schezuan spice level… this was like Japanese spicy i.e. not spicy 4. Garlic: Tastes like a TW touch with the extra garlic. This was one of my favorites because it had a good flavor but the garlic wasn’t overdone to anti-vampire levels. 5: Crab roe: Alright, but I think the other flavors better complement XLB. 6. Ginseng, 7. Black truffle 8. Foie gras: No comment because I’m not even completely sure what ginseng, black truffle, and foie gras are supposed to taste like… this is too fancy for me. [THESECRETMENUITEM] Wasabi shrimp balls /芥末蝦球: I noticed this on and it wasn’t on the restaurant menu, but the server said they could make it. Not sure if it’s still available though, because I had to scroll wayyy down on OpenRice before I was able to find any other pictures. This was the highlight of the meal: the shrimp is similar to honey walnut prawns because it’s crispy and mildly sweet, except they cover it in a magical green wasabi-mustard sauce. It’s very unique and absolutely delicious, but be warned that it is quite spicy. [THENOODLES&CHICKENBROTH] Not bad, but the chicken broth quality and noodle presentation seem to be better at Crystal Jade. [THEAMBIANCE] The décor at Paradise Dynasty really stood out to me. Since we got there early around opening time before normal HK people usually eat lunch, the restaurant was empty so I got some pictures of the interior design(I only do this for exceptional ambiance to avoid looking more touristy than I already am)

There was a time when everyone was raving about the multi-colored/flavored XLB. So I thought this would be a great place to take my family out for dinner. Overall, It is a good place to take family members who are prefer a good dining environment over food. i.e., COLD A/C, roomy interior, short wait time, etc. but not a good place to feed the foodies. The XLB was honestly a lackluster of the night. I will not deny I had high hopes for it but 4 out of the 8XLB came in the same shade of orange, which is clearly different from the guide and I was unable to distinguish them from the taste alone. The crab roe flavor was the most repulsive of all. It was FISHY!(Disclaimer: I am very sensitive.) The only one that tasted good was the black truffle one. The rest of the items we ordered were only average. I don’t think I will return. I have plenty of other choices in CWB.

The interior is nice but the food is just so so. I came here for a Monday lunch with my coworkers. We ordered a bunch of stuffs and it costs about $ 120 per person. Here are some specific comments on some dishes: — Xiao Long Bao — they are above average as well as gimmicky. I like the original, foie gras and truffle oil flavors the best. Spicy cold chicken appetizer(口水鸡) — it’s totally wrong. it’s basically drunken chicken covered in spicy sauce. WTF. the spicy sauce doesn’t look like the authentic sichuan kind either(no running clear chilli oil). Cold cut pork belly with spicy sauce(蒜泥白肉) — again, very wrong. I’ve never had 蒜泥白肉 that tasteless before. the presentation is also horrific. all the meat is placed on one side of a small dish. it looks like they forgot to put the other half of the dish before serving. Onion oil noodle(葱油伴面) — noodle is freshly made which is good. fried onion is also crispy. But I’ve had better in general. Service — SLOW. We waited forever for the bill and our last noodle dish. Overall, while the place is cozy, the food is average at best. Anything Sichuan style(or spicy) is done wrongly and service is slow.

I love their multi-colored XLBs — very inventive I also liked their thinly sliced pork wrapped around cucumber and covered with a soy, chili garlic sauce — it is delicious Not everything I tried on their menu was great, but over all this was a good find.

Came here especially to try the different colored/flavored Shanghai dumplings AKA Xiao Long Bao AKAXLB. I shared a multi-colored basket with a friend so we each got to try 4 flavors. They did try to create unique ones such as garlic, foie gras, ginseng, but there were times when we both couldn’t tell what flavor it was and had to see a menu to compare the color to the flavor. The really sad thing is that the skin of the dumplings didn’t hold up. At least four of them broke as we tried to lift it onto our spoons. Aside from XLB, we had: –Drunken chicken — This tasted like standard drunken chicken. No complaints and tasted yummy. –Dan Dan Noodles — Noodles in a spicy peanut sauce: This was really good. A bit unexpected as it was more spicy than normal but we both liked this a lot. I had high hopes for the dumplings, but unfortunate that the skins didn’t hold up and flavors weren’t as strong as expected. The other items definitely earn Paradise Dynasty some more points. Environment: Nice and clean. Came around 12:30pm on a weekday and didn’t have issues getting a seat. Maybe because it was a holiday week, but was surprised there were quite a few tables available.

8 colors unique and innovative xiao long bao: i love the foi gras, truffle and spicy flavors a lot. amazing. the truffle flavor smells strong. foi gras is not oily at all. the spicy flavor got a sichuan flavor kick. the other flavors such as ginseng, original, etc are also great. I will come back to order this again next time. This is something they are very famous for. sichuan spicy ramen: very flavorful, love the noodle, the wonton is different from the normal cantonese wonton, but still good. i finished the whole bowl by myself. steamed egg white with scallop: perfectly cooked at the right time duration, very smooth. it’s very light but nutritional. they also have other items like shanghai buns, dumplings, etc. i saw many people are eating their buns. Very good environment the food serves slow

Friend took us here for Xiao Long Bao, never having to choose flavours before. We went with the multi color mixture. My favourite was definitely the Black Truffle, which was so good that we ordered another basket of them. Overall very good place, and the location and atmosphere are quite nice.

50% off during the week between 3 — 5 pm We ordered 50% off Multi flavor Rainbow XLB — yes we oinked out and ordered one steamer of 8 each. Flavor to eat in order: Regular — thin skins, taste freshly made, soupy, eaten with dark vinegar The following are eaten as is: Ginseng — can really taste the ginseng flavor, Fois Gras — not fatty at all, essence of fois gras Black Truffle — smoky and tasty Cheese — taste like melted cheddar mixed with pork Crab Dough — taste the crab filling Garlic — super garlicy, but can’t see where it is inside the dumpling Spicy — numbing spicy and great We also ordered their Spicy Seafood Laksa; which was quite disappointing. The noodle is very nice Ramen, the Soupy sauce is just spciy with a water down peanut soup underneath. This restaurant is located inside Lee’s with other restaurants on different floors. Worth a visit.

Such fun and innovative soup dumplings. The most creative ones I have had to date! Definitely recommend ordering the signature dynasty xiao long bao for a tasting of all 8 flavors. My favorites were the foie gras, garlic, crab roe, and black truffle. The cheese XLB was too heavy for me and it really does not go with XLB in my personal opinion. Also, tried their szechuan noodles and they were VERY spicy. My lips were burning for a while after I had it. It was delicious though minus the burning sensation at the end. If you’re a fan of spicy foods, it’s worth trying. Décor is very nice and great for large parties/families. The menu has English translations for the non-natives.

Located inside a multi-level mall in the Causeway Bay district, I was so happy to finally find this place after trying to hunt it down for about 10 minutes.(Not to mention it was pouring hot sticky rain outside so it was a profound relief to finally locate this nicely air-conditioned hidden gem.) If I remember correctly, it’s inside the same building as Uniqlo, or the building right next door.(I hope that helps!) They get extra points for their innovative rainbow XLB, their signature dish that attracted me to this restaurant in the first place. The execution of the more luxurious flavors was a bit questionable though. I was excited to try the foie gras, black truffle, cheese, and crab roe flavors, but I thought that all four were a bit too rich and I ended up liking the more traditional flavors a lot better. We also ordered the laksa ramen. I’d never had this dish before and I was dying to try it… but it was a bit too rich for my taste as well. Even though the richness of the signature dishes didn’t quite do it for me, all-in-all I thought Paradise Dynasty was an excellent restaurant with high-quality food and service. The décor is nice and trendy, but the prices are still friendly.(Hehe, that rhymes.) Definitely recommended.

loved the creative variety of XLB. heavy marketing and promotion went into this place(new Hysan restaurants so crowded). the eight flavors are: original, cheese, sichuan, garlic, ginseng, crab roe, black truffle and foie gras. creative but not sure if it could take much marketshare from CJ, DTF.
