Lex Coffee

This place surprises me a lot! It would say that this is a hidden gem in the old Kennedy Town. In fact it is just locating right next to the subway station but there wasn’t a lot people when I went there.
The place is decently decorated, it has high ceiling and comfy furnitures. I was just randomly searching for a place to fill my empty stomach after class. I was not expecting to run into such a cute café. They served an interesting menu, among which I ordered and got very much impressed by their Seafood Risotto with Tom Yam. The risotto was creamy and the sauce just tasted very much like tom yam. This is absolutely a creative combination without mentioning the Italian risotto and Thai tom yam matched with each other really well.
The mango-​flavoured dressing made the salad tasted extra refreshing in the Lex Benedict. And last but not least, you have to try the seasalt chocolate banana snow. The hot chocolate was mixed with banana, rich choco flavour and seasalt. Every sip of the chocolate tasted a mix of those ingredients. The ‘snow’ which were actually melted marshmallows! I will definitely return and try other dishes on their menu.

This was just an overall disappointing experience.
First of all, they made us wait an hour for a table. This was already a bad sign
Then finally we had to seated separately which was also not professional.
If you are going to make us wait this long then they should have given us a warning. Plus this is a coffee shop where you go up to the counter to order and you expect us to wait this long for that.
On top of that, they got my order on. I ordered a cold coffee and they gave us a hot one.
The food itself was okay.
My smoked salmon sandwich was okay. I’ve made better myself. The coffee was interesting. It had a smoky flavour to it.
The pasta though was pretty good. I mean it was well infused and cooked perfectly andante.
Other than that, I was thoroughly disappointed and will not be back.

Drinks– taste of Geisha coffee was alright, nothing spectacular and I’ve certainly had better. Cold pear/​ginger tea did not have ginger taste at all and was actually just a tea bag. The type of tea bag used was cute, but is already sweetened and had artificial sweetener taste which I didn’t not like.
Ambiance/​Environment– very cute place that is spacious, but seating is limited. It is decorated with walls of books and products that they sell/​serve.
Staff/​Service– friendly and patient. Staff was happy to answer questions and explain the menu. They bring the drinks/​food to you at your seat if you purchase for dine in.
Because of the cute atmosphere/​environment and friendly service, I think this place is worthy of 3.5 solid stars and worth a visit. But if you’re expecting excellent coffee and tea, don’t have high hopes. They serve food, which I have yet to try so this review focuses on drinks only.

Had the panna cotta and green tea latte here. This is a great place to sit down, relax, and sip your coffee slowly. Not crowded at all, comfortable décor, lots of light coming in from the windows. Would definitely recommend!
