Wow, what a steal! My friend and I were walking outside Langham Place when we were approached by someone handing out flyers for Ikkyu. Casually, we took a quick look to see an unbeatable offer: 10 pieces of salmon sashimi for only 40 HKD… what a bargain! Of course, there’s no such thing as a free lunch (or dinner), and the catch to this deal was to spend at least 100 HKD to redeem the offer.
We couldn’t resist. We walked up a seemingly sketch stairway to get to Ikkyu and got seated. We ordered two plates of the 10pc salmon sashimi as well as fries with black truffle sauce. The sashimi was delicious — large, succulent pieces that definitely did the job. The fries and black truffle sauce were a good appetizer, and we managed to dip some of the sashimi in the black truffle sauce (yum)!
Service tip: if you don’t speak Cantonese, it’s best to come with someone who can speak Cantonese. When my friend and I went, they didn’t understand us when we spoke Mandarin or English, which led me to use my last resort of broken Cantonese… it worked in the end, but come prepared!
