This place was amazing. Great ambiance, modern clean décor with an emphasis on perfectly cooked food with innovative combinations. We had the sweet potatoes with goat cheese and pine nuts, followed but Italian style meatballs and short ribs. They served up just the right sized proportions to share. I can’t wait to go back.

So here’s the deal — if you’re there for an actual meal, you’ll be seated in a much prettier, more open area(at the front of the building). However, if you’re there strictly for cocktails, you’re directed to the alley out to the right of the building, and just told to «go in through the door», which will look misleadingly like a service entrance, but nope, you’re there. Anyways… THEGOOD. + Extensive cocktail menu with Ron Burgundy themed drinks THEBAD. — Very, VERY cramped space with no air flow — It’s extremely loud, to the extent of having to yell to be heard — Over-worked staff = very slow service — Dim lights don’t always mean classy, guys, good luck reading the menu — It’s frequented by bro-y business guys who loudly boast about their romantic conquests and other unsavory things(TMI, man) I reallllly did not have an enjoyable time at Ham & Sherry, as I’m sure you can surmise. Maybe that’s just how the neighborhood goes there, but I’d qualify Ham & Sherry as a ‘must miss’.

Small small place The food quality was not authentic nor tasty. The biggest draw back was the open kitchen’s poor ventilation.

Have wanted to try this place for a while. The jamon(had the iberico bellota) is good quality, freshly sliced off the leg, moist and exuding modest traces of oil. The lamb was good apparently(I don’t eat lamb) and the Iberico pork ribs were yummy but nothing out of this world. I liked the salad — chicory, pear, walnut and picks, well balanced and fresh ingredients. Finished with some churros which went fabulously well with the sherry(east India solera) — can’t really complain!

Was in a kitschy gift shop around the corner. Heard about this place but quite frankly wasn’t interested in going. Walked in and wow… the décor is amazing. The setup is genius and the music they were playing got me. To add to all the greatness, they had a happy hour that was completely boss. I got the chili and garlic prawns along with a spanish red wine. Perfection. The calamari with squid ink dip? To die for. So tasty. I’m a vegetarian at home, but for vacation and special events I make an exception. I’ll ball out of control with the meat and seafood. A done deal. I want to go back for dinner. One day…

Jason Atherton’s more airy version of «rustic» tapas compared to 22 Ships across the street(darker, more crowded) welcomes you with a fantastic menu created by head chef Max Kellman out of EMP in New York. I really like his creative ‘comfort food’ approach to the menu that features the likes of some fantastic sliders and grilled cheese along with the more inventive tapas like Pork scratchings(chicharrón to me), and specials like braised baby octopus. The sherry list is expansive and welcoming, the staff are very attentive and work well together given the cramped surroundings. I’m also impressed that the kitchen operates on two induction burners and a deep fryer! A jamón flight is a must to enjoy a glass of sherry too, and don’t forget to check out the bar behind the restaurant afterwards. Very impressed with all aspects of the restaurant from food to service. Lunch sets are available, I’ll be back for that!

I’ve a massive fan of all things Spanish, so when I saw a friend Instagram at Ham & Sherry I knew one day I’d have to pay a visit if I found myself in Hong Kong. My day finally came and I ended up there for lunch. Indeed I’ve been twice now at lunch time and have been really pleased with the quality, value and speed of their lunch time fixed price menu. A choice of appetisers and main, along with a tea or coffee sets you back less than HK$ 150 and from what I can tell the menu changes frequently enough to keep things interesting for frequent visitors. My first visit saw me eating a eye-rolling worthy calamari sandwich and my second visit a small portion of chicken paella. I’m yet to visit in the evening for the full menu and sherry, but Ham & Sherry still remains as a gastronimic promised land in Hong Kong for me.

I came here on a Friday near the end of lunch hour, and we were seated right away. We had the set lunch which was $ 128 a person for an appetizer, main course and tea or coffee. I had the soup and a burger. As lame as it sounds, I wish their menu had an explanation of what everything is. Because some of the dishes were in a foreign language, I didn’t know what it was. That’s kind of how I ended up with the soup… The soup was very sour, but in a good way. Inside the soup, there was a piece of what tasted like parma ham. My burger was cooked really well, just before medium. It was juicy and well paired with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. The sauce that came on it was also really good. I can’t exactly say what kind of sauce it is though… All in all, I thought the food was good but I’m not sure I would say that Ham & Sherry is a place that I will regularly return to. Their food didn’t have that wow factor to it.

I came here for the first time last night. This has been a place I have wanted to try out for the longest time. We came here for drinks right before dinner at 22 ships. In case you didn’t know, they are under the same group. We were lead through a back alley to the bar side of the restaurant. The shop front is the restaurant. I didn’t have the pleasure of trying it but I am so intrigued to try next time I’m around. Anyway, so we ran into the back, arrived around 7 and it was pretty quiet when we got in. The first thing I noticed is the powerful aroma of popcorn. We were seated at the bar and got the cutest menu ever. It was printed on those old school writing books in elementary school. So nostalgic. We were recommended the First Kiss and my friend got another drink. When it arrived, it was the cutest ever. There was a stencil of a boy and girl kissing on the top of the drink(see photos). It was so soft and fruity. Very yummy. I loveddddd it. We were served popcorn as well. Best. Popcorn. Ever. It was so fresh, hot and buttery. It literally melts in your mouth. We pretty much finished the whole thing in a matter of minutes! Can’t wait to come back again.
