I once had a friend from Malaysia that is a muslim and was visiting Hong Kong; there is always a problem during mealtime as we have to look for halal diners. Thank to this chain, it makes life much easier for him and for me as there are plenty of Ebeneezer’s around and they offer authentic halal. More to the turkish side, this joint mainly serves up kebabs. Think of it as a slender cousin of the mexican burrito, this goody is loaded with veggies and the meat if your choice; it is quite a well balanced meal on its own. I particular like the sauces that come along, there are 3 of them which are all mayo based. The paler one is an aioli style garlic mayo, the green one is blended with mint leaves while the red one has chili in it. All of them go very well with both greens and the meat. Other than kebabs, there are also greek salad and salads that are topped with the meats in the kebab. And thats the thing i normally go for; More fiber, less starch, the golden principle of healthy eating. For the salad, I rather like the feta cheese against the greens and the meat as the salty sharp white cubes add a slight richness to the otherwise crunchy yet unsubstantial mouthful. Also served with the same dressings for the kebab, i would recommend you not to have the sauce dressed on the leaves by the kitchen but have it separated instead since the kitchen tends to over dress the leaves and miss the purpose of a light salad. So here you go, a little taste of the middle east in the oriental town of Hong Kong. If you have friends that observe strict halal diet, this is the place I would highly recommend.
