We are American expats to Hong Kong and my husband found himself in need of a dentist. He had a filling fall out. YIKES! We are use to high level of service when it comes to dental care, for we have been going to the same dentist back in Las Vegas for a dozen years. After looking to several US trained dentists that had very cool looking practices on-line, my husband was a touch caught off gaurd on how expensive they were after being quoted for basic services like cleaning and X-rays when we phoned. My thought was that«you get what you pay for,» but my husband wanted to look further. When in doubt, ask someone who has beautiful teeth who is their dentist! I find this a good rule. As such, we were referred to Dr. Dickson(and despite several things we found on-lline indicating that this person might be a woman, be advised he is a man! LOL!) Dr. Dickson is technically a dental surgeon, but they do have a dental hygienist on staff for cleanings. He went to South Africa for dental school for his BDS(Bachelors in Dental Surgery) at University of Witwatersand in Johannesburg. He speaks perfect English. My husband felt comfortable in his chair and in his care. The office is very small, with a tiny reception area and it appears only two rooms to service dental patients. The office though seemed clean and I even noted that the magazines in the waiting area were current… which is a sign that someone is caring about appearances! LOL! The filling repair took about 45 minutes and cost $ 800HKD. They take American Express, which we personally like and use. My husband indicated he would go back for his cleaning at this office in light of his good experience with this filling repair.
