One of the coolest bars in Hong Kong I’ve been to. Prefer to go here on weekdays when it’s not too packed. Good drinks, food is okey. The skewers are good, but the fries were a bit too thin and too dry. They were all broken up in half. The hummus had too much lemon juice but was okey. Music is varied. One day they can play good mix of hip hop and pop while some days it can be really bad mainstream hits. What really lifts this place up is its atmosphere and that it basically is based in an ally between two buildings.

Really like this place. It’s off a dark corridor in landale street … Where the residential dwellers wished they didn’t exist. The bar is quite grungy … With a bit of African vibe as the name suggests … However when I was there last the DJ was playing very Aussie tunes from the 80s and 90s(think John Farnham)! I don’t mind a bit of old school music from Oz … But wasn’t want we expected and not in tune with the vibe. The cocktails are yummy and creative. The food — is amazing. I love the roast chicken, the chicken kebabs, and the hummus! It’s a great place to come after work to grab a drink and a bite. On a weeknight its a bit of a sausage feast … Presumably from the PP3 office workers. Their license does not permit them to play music after 11, and the residents frequently call the police to remind them of this. Not to worry though, because when they close, you can take your drink and simply move next doors to their sister bar Deligator.

Worthwhile trekking away from the usual wanchai sludge for a brilliant cocktail with good ambience, friendly staff and a great vibe. Food is great as well.

This place is tucked in an alley in Wanchai. I feel like this is the coolest spot in HK. It feels authentic. It tastes delicioso. It sounds fashion forward. It looks stunning. I don’t know if I can talk too much about the food because it makes me really hungry… Ok too late I’m thinking about it :-). The grilled haloumi cheese is out of this world, sooooo tasty and was perfectly salty sweet. Their fries are awesome and tasty with garlic mayo on the side, and their free range roast chicken is succulent. I love that you feel like your juice and drink is getting a lot of attention, and it sure tastes that way. I watched one of the bartenders pound away at ice for my friend’s juice :-). Finally, the live DJ on Monday night was awesome and had some awesome driving beats that everyone was grooving to. Everyone who works here is friendly and fun and nice and attentive. Must also be because they all get to wear these awesome Hawaiian shirts that are too cool. I want to come back as often as possible. It truly is a wonderful, unique place.

Very cool cocktail bar with decent food. It’s quite hard to find but a cool place to hang out once you do. It’s not cheap though.

Very cosy little bar off an alleyway, caters mostly to expats, a nice place for friends to meet up and have an alcoholic beverage. Service staff are very warm and attentive. Not as crowded or labelled as LKF. Also a nice place ‘not’ to be seen.

This bar lived up to all of my expectations. It is exactly what a bar is supposed to feel, look and sound like. I came across this bar in a review in January from lifestyle Asia and immediately bookmarked it as one of the places that needed to be visited while I was here in March for study abroad. Stumble your way through the back alley streets of Wan Chai, dodge HK locals and Rugby enthusiasts and make a right turn down Landale Street. There, amongst the dark alleys, you can find this Gem of a Bar. Immediately you will be overwhelmed by the soothing vibe of this African themed bar, wrapping you in a shroud of serenity. The space is secluded and intimate and overall dipped in a purple shading coming from the Main Bar. My new friends and I seated ourselves at the corner of the Side bar immediately in front of the outdoor chicken rotisserie. From here you have a good view of the entire Bar. I must say the place looks like a piece of Art from the lighting to the handpicked serving staff. As I had been out celebrating the 7s for about 12 hours at this point, I passed on the exquisite looking cocktails and moved to their list of fresh pressed juices. As the bar is african themed, you can have your choice of fresh homemade juice creations such as the Rampant Rabbit or Jungle nectar. Feeling less adventurous I went for the Rampant Rabbit. So fresh. Amazing. Next to the best of the Bar. The food menu. As I have been in a fix for Baba Ganoush, I did not pass on the opportunity to try it out here in Hong Kong. I chose the Baba Ganough which was light and flavorful. It naturally came with Pita which was a delight from the heavy tasteless stuff I usually come across in Pittsburgh. Adding to the Fun I chose the Djibouti Naan which was rolled up like a puff pastry. wonderful. Stuffed with bread, I naturally needed to balance the meal out with one of their premier skewers so Lamb it was. You are served two skewers with a side of Muhamarra Sauce. Amazing. The lamb was slightly spicy, something I am finding on the rare side here in HK. Happily digesting my food and vibing to the scene we were checked in on by Djiboutii’s General Manager, a lovely, inviting Italian by the name of Alessio. It made the entire experience feel all the more inviting. It is a little sad that this little gem turns back into a pumpkin at 11pm every night, I would have loved to stay longer, but it simultaneously made the experience just a tick better leaving you wanting and lusting for another bite. What an absolutely stellar place to discover in this amazing city. I will do my best to get here one more time before I leave.

Little tough to find… but I eventually made it :) Loved it. The vibe and ambiance is individualistic. An eclectic, African themed spot. Yet, a few themes of asian culture were strewn through this establishment. I had the fever drink. I don’t remember the whole name of the cocktail. It had rum, chai, & chocolate bitters in it. More ingredients, yes but those were the most potent ones. Strong, not too sweet, and very individualistic. Music amazing. Late 90’s rap, R&B, and alternative floated throughout their speaker system. One of the bartenders/waitresses was super nice to me. She inquired a bit about my stay & vacation time. Always love talking to new people for a bit :) I found out their names: Sarah and Nor(spelling may not be correct). Find them should you ever be there! This is the type of spot I’d go to in the city as my secret refuge. Solid.

Love the happy vibes in this intimate bar. It’s located in a dark alley, and you won’t feel like you’re in Hong Kong. Service was excellent and welcoming, and the food and drinks came out much quicker than expected. The cocktail I tried, made from prosecco and peach purée(i think) was lovely, though on the weak side. Food was surprisingly good for a bar. I’ll be back!

From the people who brought you ultra hipster Ted’s Lookout, here comes new chill out spot Djiboutii. Situated in an alley in Landale street, this hole-in-a-wall bar slash restaurant is reminiscent of Brickhouse. About the same size as Ted’s Lookout — meaning tiny, this place feels more bar than restaurant. But the menu is small but complete, with salads, grills and sharing items. Inspired by its namesake African country, the emphasis is on grilled foods, and Mediterranean flavors, which didn’t particularly cater to my palate that night. However, I will come back again for the drinks. I had a Bloody Mary made with chicken juice. I’ll repeat that. Chicken Juice. But it was savory and delicious. Plus the vibe is chillax and would be perfect to come with a few friends for an easy night. Food still getting there, but this will be the latest hipster drinks place. Shhh.
