First time to Hong Kong, I Unilocaled and found this place. Equivalent to a Sheraton in the USA, small room, but modern and equipped with all amenities for electronics. We booked a dbl room that had single beds that were HARD. Courtious staff and nicely decorated in the North Point district which is ‘blue collar’ area of Hong Kong, some place off the beaten tourist path where we could get the ‘feel’ of local life.

This hotel experience did not start out well. When checking in I was told I was upgraded and in a very nice room on an upper floor. As I settled into my room I noticed the floor/carpet was wet/damp. I optimisticly passed it off as having just been cleaned. I then noticed that the safe didn’t work, I decided I would mention something in the morning, not an issue overnight. As I settled in to sleep I realized that my room ##01 backed up to the elevators so I could hear them going up and down in the night. The next morning I went to take a shower and the drain wouldn’t open, I managed to get that pulled open and out, another thing I can mention before leaving for the day. But then I couldn’t get the shower on, the tub faucet was running fine, but the stopper you pull up was broken and no way to switch it onto the shower. Enough was enough at that point, I called down asking for a new room. I was initially told they could have a room for me after 2pm. I repeated my problems and explained I had to get to work and I needed a shower. They offered me a room on a different floor and advised me that room ##18 would be noisy with the elevators, having just spent the night with the elevators I quickly accepted and was moved after checking out the new room. After writing this it occurs to me that there was never a follow up call or apology or anything, that’s disappointing. Settling into my new room I realized that the rooms are quite different. I thought maybe they were in the middle of a remodel or something, but after further research on the website I saw that there are many subtly different room styles and apparently my first room was an upgrade, but no shower is no deal. I did notice that my new room was missing a compendium and the promised iPod alarm clock radio. Overall, looking past the bad start, it was a fine stay, the new room was quiet, no elevator noise as warned. The internet speed was hit or miss, sometimes very fast sometimes very slow. I Couldn’t find any rhyme or reason to it. The breakfast was okay. Wasn’t quite to my tastes, but I found something to eat and didn’t starve. Something odd was that my breakfast was included in my room package, but I was asked to sign for a full breakfast cost everyday, It was taken off my bill and did not show up on checkout, but to a less experienced traveller I could see this being a big concern. The checkout process was frustrating. I was given a late checkout ’til 2pm, so when I went to checkout they had to lines setup, one for checking out and one for checking in. The irritating part was that they kept taking guests from the checking in line, checking them in, having them wait until a room was ready. Meanwhile I was kept waiting for a while, and I had a room I was trying to «Give Up» Overall due to the location and the large sized rooms I will come back to this hotel and would recommend it to someone needing to stay in the area.

A very nice hotel for the price and location. We have stayed here twice now. One time for 3 weeks in 2011 and now 2014 for 2 weeks. This visit we had the City Suite, king size bed with a seperate living area with a couch and dinner table for 4 people. 2 bath rooms with 2TVS. It is a popular hotel so it is very busy in the lobby but the rooms are well insulated and our stay was quiet and comfortable. Fortress Hill MTR is 5 mins walk away. Plenty of nearby business but the most important is laudry across the street. Hotel has 3 restaurants. Garden Café offering breakfast, lunch and dinner buffett. Yue is a Michlin recommended higher end chinese restaurant and the third in the basement Satay Inn. This stay we got breakfast buffett included making it a super deal. Will be back again.
