All I have to say is wow! I knew I’d like this place as soon as I walked through the door. The lighting and ambiance in the front lounge was spectacular. The servers were super friendly and the seating was very comfortable. Then the food started coming. Again I have to say wow. We started with the skewers. We tried the beef, shrimp, cod and chicken. All were perfectly prepared, well presented and most importantly delicious! Our favorite was the cod. We also had the tacos(beef, fish and crab). The fish taco was the star. My wife liked the crab most. We also had a potato appetizer and the corn on the cob. All were wonderful. The owner came over and chatted with us about the restaurant and some other projects he’s into. It was another example of the fine service. Finally, the bill came. I don’t think it was outrageous, but be aware that it adds up when you order a lot(and trust me, you will order a lot when you taste this great food!)

I had a great meal and great experience at Chicha. We were seated immediately, got some authentic tasting Pisco sours and decided on the Inca Trail full course meal. Every course was excellent from the perfectly tangy but not too salty Ceviche starter through to the sublime Picarones dessert. The beef was tender, the fish fresh tasting and the flavors well balanced in every dish. I would definitely return.

Good Peruvian food. The Civice was good as were the cod miso skewer’s. Also enjoyed the Peruvian chicken(a la Brassa) we shared as a main course.

Very authentic in the vein of multi-cultures Peruvian dishes. Ceviches and Lomo Saltado is as good as you’ll get in Lima, many thanks to the chef. Deliciously strong Pisco Sours and S American wine list complements the outstanding menu. Big thumbs up!

The location of Chicha is great right on the edge of Soho area of HK island side. Prepare to be hot and sweaty by the time you walk from the MTR from Admiralty and up the hills past Lan Kwai Fung to get there The place is small but lively As soon as we were seated I ordered a Pisco Sour, the Peruvian signature cocktail. It was nice and cold and refreshing but a bit sweet for my palate We had the trio of ceviche. One of the three were good. The two not good were way to salty. The traditional ceviche was very nice The skewers were good except the lamb skewer. Really funky flavors The other dishes we had were ok nothing great. Would I go back? Probably not because there are so many other places in HK I want to try or go back to

Incredibly rich food but some incredible flavours. The hot scallops, beef skewers and wagyu beef main dish are all excellent.

Somehow over a public holiday, I was strolling down Peel Street and where all other restaurants were shut — Chicha was open for lunch! The last time I visited Chicha was in the evening for dinner and the ceviches were lovely. So how would lunch compare? It’s the same menu on offer — only this time round I decided on the 4 selection tacos + the pork and cod skewers(delish!) + calamari. Downed them with a beer and the afternoon was set! Beware the crab taco features an entire soft shell crab ! So if you’re squeamish, do not order this. If you’re not, it’s divine and melts in your mouth!;)

Bought the 3 courses lunch set groupon deal for $ 98 vs $ 198 original price. I chose the ceviche to start then the sea urchin rice with fish and the lacuma sundae for dessert. Oh and I also order the $ 80 pisco sour. Having traveled to Peru, I’ve had a taste for Peruvian food and hear that Chicha was the best in town so I was excited to see this groupon deal. First off, the ceviche was fresh but was not what I expected as it was a few pieces of sashimi with some Peruvian corn. What happened to the lime and evaporated milk that went into the dish? Nevertheless the fish was fresh. Next came my main dish marisco jugoso(sea urchin fried rice with seafood). I could see the sea urchin orange in the rice but couldn’t taste sea urchin. The tiny piece of sea bass was alright and I think I finished the dish in 5 bites. I never did like the lacuma fruit so I didn’t expect much with the only dessert choice of lacuma sundae. It was a slap of lacuma ice cream drizzled in caramel sauce with some cream. The cream was salty and bitter and I couldn’t taste the ice cream at all as the caramel totally overpowered the ice cream and I was originally going to give lacuma a second chance. Oh last but not least, the pisco was strong but needed ice to be cold and the egg white foam took up half of the small glass. Overall I’m glad I only paid $ 98 for this lunch set as we walked away still hungry and spent the afternoon at the pub next door filling ourselves up with fries and chocolate cake over beer and cocktails. I think I’ll just make my own Peruvian food next time if I’m desperate for some!

A popular Peruvian restaurant in an obscure small slope near SOHO. Girls in heels beware, the slope they are on is steeeep. I came here to try their Restaurant Week menu. **A bit of background: Restaurant week happens few times around the year and participating restaurants offer tasting menus at set dinner prices of either Hkd 328 or 418(and lunch at different ranges), offering diners a chance to try places at affordable prices.** I always guage a restaurant by the first thing you notice(besides the entrance) — the vibe, cuz that’s what separates a good meal from something less — a cheerful and vibrant dining environment with good company. And the vibe here was great, it was a dimly –lit happy hourish bustling atmosphere, perfect for my group of 6 loud friends. Peruvian seems to be the hit thing in Hong Kong right now, there is another Peruvian place, Mayta, that also opened last year and is equally popular as Chicha. Honestly, I do not know much about Peruvian food, so I cannot tell whether Chicha is serviing traditional Peruvian or an updated version of classics, but it was a treat. The intro was a refreshing mixed ceviche of shrimp, ocotopus, scallops and squid in a citrus marinade of passfruit, honey and ginger sauce that they call leche de tigre. Then came the obviously western-inspired Pork sliders and Chicken skewers(anticuchos). The sliders were ok but could go for some stronger seasoning as the pork wasn’t pork belly as other places love to use, but the chicken was wow — melt-in-your-mouth tender and covered in Aji Panca Crema, an extremely flavorful chili and cheese sauce. That’s what everyone was talking about when they said the skewers were good here, I could have this every day, why isn’t chicken skewers a ubiquitous Hong Kong street food? My main was a medium rare beef tenderloin with foie gras terrine and another citrus-y sauce over it. My asian palate prefers the salty and savory flavors so I could do without the citrus, but the beef was quite juicy and the foie gras gave me the flavor boost I wanted, no real complaints here. The dessert was a mixed berry and honey sundae, which I didn’t taste too much of, cuz at this point I was having a great time and had ordered a Peruvian beer after the first house wine was done. I can see why there have been so many fans of Chicha now, and now I’m one of them.

A welcome respite for latin-food deprived expats and travelers in HK. The food is very good and very well presented. the staff is very very nice and the open kitchen is spotless. The drinks are kick a*s. And the location on Peel is great. It’s cramped, and it’s not cheap, but that basically sums up Hong Kong anyway!

In my experience, we were seated in 10 minutes with no reservation. i wouldn’t say that this would always be the case, but we were lucky. If you do have to wait, they direct you to the Roger Room — a bar across the way. We just decided to wait outside the door. Our starter: The Shrimp Ceviche — too«lemony» for me. But it wasn’t bad either. If you like a strong taste of lemons, you’ll like this one. Next: Lomo Saltado. This dish is full of veggies and huge Kernels of CORN — they seemed to be the size of a 10-cent coin that I had mistaken it for a nut. The company I was with mentioned to me, that in Peru, they are known for making different kinds of corns. This dish isn’t overwhelmed with Corn, but I thought to throw in that fact. I really liked this dish. Main course: Whole Fried Chicken. I really enjoyed this one. It’s already cut into pieces with 4 big rice balls surrounding it. The rice ball, combined with black beans, is enough for one serving. I don’t usually order chicken at restaurants, but the company I was with, insisted that this chicken is a authentic Peruvian MUST! Lastly, In HK, I’ve discovered that«tipping» isn’t a common practice. They don’t include service charge in their bill so IF your waitress/waiter is attentive, be kind. See you soon Chicha!

I am not familiar with Peruvian cuisine and this feast impressed our entire table throughout each courses. Make sure you reserve way in advance, walk up the nasty slope and stay tuned! We wanted to walk in but get to know the reservation need to be done two weeks in advance. TWO weeks?!! My friend expressed how important it is that we are having dinner with our boss blah blah blah. And the considerable manager let us wait for a bit. While waiting and toasting our Pinot Grigio outside, we got complimentary canapés. Pan con chicharonnes, enhanced version of pork belly burger/bao. The dry sauce is tasty and complimented with the fat of the pork. Already a 4.5 start beginning. We were lucky to get seated soon. I have heard legendary about the skewers. Yardbird has made a big deal about their yakitori. Rival Chicha introduced more seafood options here. The black cod, prawn, beef, chicken breast etc. Buzz have been created about this ‘On my Cod’ black cod skewer. Truly delightful. And we ordered a taco combo. The fish taco intensified the crispy of the skin and roasted tortilla while the meat just melt immediately. And the sauce is surprising if you are used to Taco Trunk here. Many NYC Mexican restaurants’ fish taco on my list is defeated by Chicha. The last roast half chicken is a bit disappointing. BTW it was my alcohol free days that I stay with the smoothie/juice menu. Go for it.
