Came here for a friend’s birthday drinks after a day on a junk — great place to wrap up the day as the ambiance is very easy-going and good choice of drinks. Their homemade cola was very tasty and had a nice bite to it. And while we were just having drinks but the smells wafting out from the grill were enough to make everyone salivate. Definitely interested in coming back and trying out the food as well.

The flat white is good. Both the seats inside and outside are comfy and the staff are friendly.

Casa is a great bar and tapas kitchen, that’s located behind all the seafood restaurants on the seafront in Sai Kung. Since the government closed all the bars opposite the public toilets in Sai Kung, Casa has become a regular haunt of mine, especially after a hard days diving, or lounging around on a junk boat. The bar serves a great range of craft beers, including my favourite — Honey Dew, as well as an extensive selection of meat, seafood, and vegetarian tapas dishes. I tend to stick to my tried and tested favourites; things like the grilled sausages, the cheese platter, patatas bravas, and the cold-cuts platter. All of these dishes are incredibly well-prepared, very tasty, and reasonably good value. The bar itself is very simply laid out, there is an outside area with pub style picnic tables, the insider has three long bench tables with high stools down either side, and a central bar which also has the kitchen in the middle of it. This seating around the bar area is not particularly good, it is possible to sit there, but beware it is a busy working bar, so you will have to dodge the waiters coming to the bar(which doubles as the pass) to collect food. The staff there are brilliant. They can be a little scatty with the orders, but they’re so friendly and welcoming when you enter, you’ll just want to spend the whole night drinking and eating the hours away. This bar is, as mentioned previously, the ideal place to come after you’ve been out on the water from Sai Kung Pier. You may have experienced the rush for public transport when you come off the boats at the end of the day, with bunfights for taxis, minibuses, and buses. If you can’t be first off the boat and at the front of the queue for the taxi, you may as well go to Casa and hang out for a few hours until they’re people traffic subsides. An hour there is better than an hour in a cab, and you’ll probably get home just as quick!
