The problem with people constantly talking about the authenticity of tacos is, most of them don’t even know what is authentic tacos. The problem with *me* and the *authentic” tacos is, I always have bad stomach whenever after I have a taco or two. Guess I just don’t work well with the beans and sauce. Now that when Cali-Mex is in town, it’s time to have a try. This is exactly what I want though. A layman-/local-friendly version of Mexican food that I can get my hands on it without concerning the consequence afterwards. I had tried the beef tacos and the chicken tacos. Both were great, you could certainly taste the how fresh the meat is. The nachos was good too, just needed some work to separate the tortilla chips from the melted cheese. Didn’t try the beverages though, looked like a lot of coloring in it. It doesn’t seem like a store that suits everyone, but it certainly suits me. It’s probably similar to people arguing about how Tim Ho Wan’s snow mountain bbq pork buns are not authentic pork buns. But after all, it’s just a matter of taste. But with the lack of Mexican fast food joints here in Hong Kong, it will be very interesting to see Cali-Mex expands to 20 branches.

The latest location of the Tex-Mex chain slated to hit 20 stores by 2016. Located at the former site of Twist, and far too close to my apartment this will be a popular spot for me. I recommend the chicken quesadilla and I see the recently added a Peking duck option which I need to test!
