When a celebrity chef like Gordon Ramsay opens a restaurant in Hong Kong, foodies would naturally flock to the restaurant to see how the food tastes like. And of course, when we arrived, it was very crowded and full. We made reservations, but yet we were placed on a huge table where we had to sit with other people. Definitely a thumbs DOWN, because what’s the point of making reservations if we still have to sit with other people? It made absolutely no sense to me, and was a bad start to lunch. Food: 3⁄5 The food was mediocre at best, we ordered scallops, chicken, a salad and also two desserts. Seeing Gordon Ramsay stress the importance of NOT overcooking scallops, there’s a high five for him because the scallops were cooked very nicely… IF only they weren’t served cold. The chicken was indeed moist for some parts, but dry in other parts. The desserts were alright, nothing special, chocolate tart and mint ice cream, but the pastry of the tart was too crumbly and way too dry. The food really was disappointing, and while I cannot expect it to have the same quality of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in London, I expected it to maintain some sort of food standard that the chef likes to implement on his TV shows. Definitely would not recommend to make your way here to try this restaurant, there are better restaurants in Hotel LKF like GOLD or Azure that you would be better off trying.

Toffee pudding is spectacular. One of a kind really. I do recommend sharing it between 2 people though, as it could get too rich and sweet for one person to finish on their own. My friend ordered the Shepard’s pie, which was very very well made. The filling was spectacular, and the mash on top was creamy and well seasoned. On top of that the portion control was thoughtful and well measured. I, however was disappointed by the rib eye I ordered, the fat wasn’t quite rendered, and parts of it was extremely chewy. Service itself wasn’t really anything to write home about, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment I got out of the dining experience. Overall I had higher expectations for the prices they charged and something that was under the brand of Gordon Ramsay.

Overrated and nothing to rave about. Very pricey for the quality of food being served. Tasted the burger that looked like it was in a pretzel bun. Nothin special, 5 guys would have them running for the money. Crispy fried Pork belly was just plain and salty. I could have done it better as this is a famous delicacy back home. I wonder how much are they paying the King of Hell’s Kitchen to get that name attached to it?

Really enjoyed dinner at Bread Street — the food, the venue and the service. The food was delicious(scallops and quinoa salad for entrée, shepherd’s pie and pork belly for mains, and eaton mess for desert). The portions allowed for sharing. Gordon would be happy.

Gorden Ramsey inspired HK central eatery aptly named as the need is very good, lunch time set menu is good value for money, pretty decent wine list

Located in the LKF Tower, Bread Street Kitchen & Bar is Gordon Ramsey’s first foray into the Hong Kong food scene! I’m a fan of Gordon Ramsey’s show but I’ve never been to his restaurants before so I was eager to try this Hong Kong outpost. I tried to make reservations online at first and quickly realized how booked out this restaurant was as there was practically no availability at night unless you book a couple of months in advance. On one Sunday, we decided to just try our luck by walking in at an odd hour post 2pm and got seats at the bar! The menu was kept simple with a focus on British classics like fish & chips, burgers and Shepherd’s pie. The bread basket options at lunch were limited with two choices along with room temperature butter. The wheat sourdough was just okay while the ciabatta was better. Tamarind Spiced Chicken Wings($ 128) — with spring onions and coriander. These chicken wings turned out to be quite finger lickin’ awesome with its sharp and appetizing flavors! Perfect as appetizers! Traditional Shepherd’s Pie(HK$ 208) — with braised lamb, potato purée and brioche garlic crumbs, this is British comfort food at its best! The potato purée was fluffy soft like clouds which balanced the rich flavors of the lamb perfectly. I especially love the top layer of the crunchy garlic crumbs! At first, I thought the portion was a bit small for the price but the dish turned out to be quite filling actually. Banana Sticky Toffee Pudding(HK$ 88) — with Muscovado caramel and clotted cream. This classic British dessert is a must-try here! Drenched in caramel sauce, the cake was moist and warm to eat. I was afraid the caramel sauce would make this really heavy but luckily it was not as it was well balanced by the clotted cream. Just be sure to get a bite of each together! Verdict — if you’re looking for well-executed British comfort food, BSK is definitely the place to go!

Burger was decent but Gordon Ramsay wouldn’t be happy. Prices are a bit high for the food, but that’s to be expected for a HK high-profile restaurant. I had the burger, which was tasty enough and my wife had an omelette(nothing special). We shared the Macaroni Cheese side and, for the first time since I moved to HK(3yrs) I sent it back. It was inedible: macaroni was severely uncooked and hard while the cheese just gloppy and tasteless. They did remove if from the bill, but I would have been really appalled if they hadn’t. Service was a disappointment too. It was a Sunday brunch and not super busy. The waitor a came by to deliver the bread, mains, and refill our water(after flagging them down), but didn’t remove our coffee cups which were empty by the time our food arrived. Even after they cleared our plates, the empty coffee stained cups were left — not even an offer for another cup. I just found this odd, especially given it wasn’t a large table. A friend had advised it was over rated, but sadly had to learn for myself.

Finally went to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Hong Kong. Keep in mind I am always more critical becoz it is a restaurant owned by celebrity chef. I was lucky my friend went and grab seats first so I didn’t have to wait in line. It wasn’t bad for her either — since she arrived around 12:30pm on a Saturday. When I got there, it took our server a while before bringing me my water so points were docked there.(At least they used fresh orange juice for my mimosa?) Food is good in general but I expect to be wow-ed since it is again a Gordon Ramsay. Except for the truffle eggs, nothing left me a lasting impression. Would I return? Perhaps, if an opportunity presents itself. But would I go out of my way to come? Probably not. Nevertheless, it still beats Jamie Oliver’s restaurant in my opinion.

Was very disappointing I was looking so forward to Gordon Ramsey restaurant as he criticizes every one Thinking well perfect restaurant, well I was wrong the food was ok I was not impressed the way they serve it, my husband had a hamburger that was served on a thick wooden stick 5″ in diameter instead of a plate trying to be extra modern with 5 large French fries not impressed at all I had the couscous salad it was sweet bitter and nothing great well Mr Ramsey what is going on, menu is boring nothing great and exciting service was the only good part 6 servers for 5 tables still did not know who was our server,

We visited in the 3rd week of January, so the restaurant had been open for several months. The food was only ok, some ups and downs. My biggest issue was with service. We had no idea who our waitperson was, and none of the food runners knew to whom they were delivering food. They sent my starter and salad at the same time, which is pretty tacky. The location of the restaurant is pretty hard to find, although maybe if you’re used to Hong Kong you wouldn’t think so. All in all, for the price point and high service expectation attached to Gordon Ramsay, it was a HUGE disappointment.

This is one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants. It happened to be collaborated by him and Dining Concepts. The décor is very nice. The staff were quite attentive. It kind of looks like an old school British film set up somewhere in a café. The food isn’t all that great. It was good don’t get me wrong but it wasn’t a WOWFACTOR for me. We went during their soft opening. Somehow the line the chef gave us all complimentary desserts and didn’t include any sweets onto our bill. I’ll visit again to try it with more people.

Am I in an episode of Hell’s Kitchen or what? Here’s my completely biased review. I am quite a fan of Ramsey’s famous hit TV series Hell’s Kitchen. I know what he look out for when he judges the restaurant he visits. This restaurant checks quite a few boxes on that list. Long waiting time. Check. Food that came out of a bag. Check. Clueless staff. Check. Here’s the story. We wait for almost an hour for something simple. A flat bread appetizer to share. A burger for me as entrée and a sausage dish for my friend. After 15mins of waiting, we noticed the people few table next to us finish their flatbread, we sat down around the same time. A staff suddenly realized, came by and ask if we had our flat bread… Obviously not… Flatbread came in around 5mins later. Fine, I think it’s an acceptable wait. Another 20mins later, the people next to us finished their entrée and started paying the bill… We asked two staffs to check on our food, they said yes and wander off. It’s not until we asked the manager with stronger language that they noticed our existence. Anyway, entrees came 5mins later. My burger felt hastily put together and a bit raw for my standard(no one asked how I wanted it cooked). My friend’s sausage with lentils is a bit more interesting. It looks like the dorm food from college. A few sausages from the grill and slap on some god knows when it’s cook lentil on the side… Bottom line is Food is acceptable, you get what you paid for in this«casual» version of the Ramsey franchise. We paid around $ 280 per person. Quite steep for one shared appetizer, two entrees and a bottle of sparkling. Expect much more if you order steak. Call me cheap but most restaurants nearby has a decent set menu for the price of one entrée. You can check out my other reviews for recommendations for a good lunch in Central. One of them is another place from the same restaurant group as this one!

I wish I could give it more stars, given that this is the first GR restaurant in HK, and I like Gordon Ramsay and his other restaurant, the GR Burger, in Vegas. All 4 of us went last Sunday and sadly all of us agreed this would be the first and last time there. The place was packed! I love the bistro style décor — casual, modern and stylish. I opened the menu and honestly nothing really caught my eye, but we were so hungry so we got the sea bass carpaccio and the couscous. Both were delicious! The sea bass tasted fresh with a good marinade from the lemon and avocado. The couscous salad ingredients had fresh and good flavors to make a tasty appetizer. The other two appetizers, the veal carpaccio and the chorizo dip, only deliver mediocre flavors. I took only one bite of each dish and stopped. The main courses were nothing exciting either. Pork chop had good flavors but was a bit dry and chewy. I had better pork chop in many other restaurants. Veal was the opposite, it was tender and juicy but lacked meat flavors. Fish and chips were not crispy and hot enough… Really? You just need to deep fry and serve them hot, really not a hard thing to do. The desserts were okay. I feel like the desserts(pineapple and strawberry meringue) are not integrated to form actual dishes but just different ingredients mixed together served on a plate, maybe too simple? The banana sticky pudding could’ve been better if it wasn’t too sweet. The pastry of the chocolate tart was bland. Quite a disappointment in the dessert department. I understand this is not a fine dining restaurant, but still, comparing to other restaurants of the same class, Bread Street is really subpar. It’s not just about the quality of the ingredients that needs improvement, but more about the skills of cooking and the creativity and delivery of dishes. If you decide to go check it out, don’t have your expectations up! The place has a bar and would be a good place to hang out though.
