Food was not bad, but I didn’t like the service there and unfortunately this review is about what the waitress did to me. 2 out of the 6 bowls they served us were dirty, we could see dried food stuck on the bowl. We called the waitress wanting to get new ones and she made us wait(note, we were the only table there at that time), so I thought I would use this waiting time to take a pic of the bowls to show my fellow Unilocalers. Just as I took my phone out she quickly walked to me, grabbed the bowls off my hand without saying a thing and walked away. Came back dropped off the clean bowls and then again, walked away without saying a thing. It’s really not about the dirty bowls you know, it’s how they handled it. In all fairness, the bak kuh teh was good, not really sure if they are THAT good to call themselves the bak kuh king though!

Came here with a group of 8 because of friend of ours recommended this place. The Malaysian food seems authentic and we tried a lot of dishes due to our party size. However, the portions were embarrassingly tiny. Not everyone get to try the dish as we pass along and run out of food. We had to order double or triple to serve all 8 of us. Taste was okay and it’s a bit salty and greasy as you can expect from authentic Malaysian food. We wanted to order rice to go with the curry sauce from the curry chicken dish but THEYRANOUTOFRICE(*Asian scream*)! Said it’ll take them 45mins to cook an other pot of rice and suggested us to get their oily rice instead. As a health conscious eater, I only eat oily/high-calorie-meals occasionally to satisfy my taste buds with good companies. However, this meal was not worth the limited health-conscious-worry-free quota.

This restaurant is located in the corner of Causeway Bay’s hippest food Mecca and takes pride in its Baat Kut Teh, which is a Malaysian medicinal rib broth. Normally there are 2 versions of this broth: one peppery and the other medicinal. This restaurant serves the latter kind. And the soup comes in a hearty small or medium size. For a restaurant specializing in the rib broth, he rest of the food is surprisingly delicious– actually they’re really yummy and authentically Malay/South East Asian. However, portions are tiny– maybe the restaurant wants its customers to focus on the Baat Kut Teh. Bottomline: the Baat Kut Teh, fried vegetables in Malay prawn butter.
