To be honest, I was not really that excited to hear the name Baby Café. I mean… for real? However, if that is part of the owner’s name then I suppose it all makes sense. Angelababy, a local celebrity model and also actress, opened her namesake restaurant in 2011. As you would have expected, it created a hype that all girls in town were dying to go there at least once a week. Just when you thought that would die out, Baby café is going strong with more branches all over Hong Kong.
I also have this uneasy feeling whenever I go there. I mean, eating while having her face is literally plastered all over the entire restaurant… is definitely a little bit too extreme for my liking. As for the food, it specializes in European and Japanese food; however, some food here are a bit too canteen food-​like… food wise, I am rather disappointed in that; so what makes this place so successful even though its food is quite a hit and miss? I have to say that it still relies heavily on star power and the ‘cuteness’ in its plating and dessert. Girls love that thing of thing and Angelababy certainly knows about marketing and how to attract target customers.
Regardless of the food, it is still a nice chilling place for you and your friends to come sit and have a nice long chat. With its casual environment, even a 20-​feet tall Angelababy cannot judge you for sitting there too long.
