I visited this place with five friends. The joint looks like an old butcher’s place decorated by a talented interior designer. Personally I’m a huge fan of the white tiles, the hard stone floors, the dark wood, and the heavy furniture. They have a one-page menu card and the selection is thus limited. In my experience this is often an advantage. It indicates that the place focuses on what they are actually good at. We all ordered the three-course menu with wine(400 kr.). You get an absolute fantastic tapas as a starter consisting of smoked veal, smoked lamb, salami, the Danish invention«rullepølse», cod-salad, brown butter, and homemade mustard. The main is chosen; either you can have«The fish of the day», «The animal of the day», or «Giblets». Not many restaurants serve giblets, but this is a big part of the restaurant’s concept. It’s called Nose2Tail because they use everything of the animals. Anyway, I had the fish while the rest of my friends chose the animal. The food is served on wooden chopping boards with both meat and vegetables. The food is delicious. They really know their stuff. The cod almost melted on the tongue and the seafood sauce was very tasty. My friends were also very happy. «The animal» included both lamb and pork — funny animal, but none the less delicious. Though the lamb was a tiny bit dry. For dessert you get a pretty standard rhubarb trifli. The waiters are young and a little unexperienced, nonetheless very polite and forthcoming. I would definitely recommend this place. They have some interesting items on their menu and they really know their meat and fish. If you go for the three-course then I would recommend including the wine menu. It compliments the food well.

We showed up without a reservation and after some hesitation offered us a table. We were a party of 5, 2 kids. Ordered a whole bunch of snacks then jumped straight to mains. We ordered full portions for everyone and then regretted it as thought the portions were huge! However when we got the food there was barely enough food. We never complain, but we had to mention it. The waiter quickly came with an extra plate of the meet dish which we thought was cool. Overall I thought the service was ok but very basic the waiters seemed a little nervous. The menu lacked in choice for a restaurant claiming to serve nose to tail of the animal… There were only bits of different types of animals… A basic choice would be to have a good steak on the menu as a permanent dish. They had steak tartar, which I ordered, as I love a good steak tartar… But it was quite disappointing. Happy we tried it and atmosphere relaxed but would not rush back.

Restaurant is great when it comes to interior, concept etc. However I was disappointed with the service and food. They were out of the seafood plate and a few more things when we arrived and it seemed like the staff were quite stressed even though the place weren’t fully booked. I really wanted this place to shine but I can’t give it more than three stars. Would I recommend it, hmm I think there are better options in CPH at least if you are looking for a proper steak.

I am not a big fan of meat so by my best choice but I was there with some meat loving friends and they loved it! It is quite cool as well the location in the middle of the meat packing in an underground place very cozy. The service was not the best but it was ok. I will recommend it.

Very disappointing. Got the meat of the day and the innards. Just tasted like braised meat. Save your money and eat and drink at warpigs.

This restaurant was one a web page of one of the 10 best in the meat packing district. But since I wasn’t all that hungry I opted for something small, which in this case was the cold seafood plate consisting of crab claws, peel and eat shrimp(small ones with th heads), razor clams, mackerel tartar, and jellied scallops. I started with the Jerusalem artichoke soup and finished with a molten chocolate cake with ice cream. Everything was quite good. I love seafood, and this turned out to be a great choice. The steaks looked and smelled wonderful, and I will surely return for one of those before my departure.

Very cozy, good food but extremely hot in the basement. Less waiting time than some of the other places in kødbyen so perfect place if other restaurants are full.

I’m a bit disappointed to give this place two stars but I need to agree with others who have commented on the poor service. The staff was initially quite friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Once we were seated and ordered our appetizer came fairly quickly but the meal… We waited for an hour and a half! Even after asking our waiter to please check on the meal because this was an outrageous amount of time, we received no answer for nearly 20 minutes. Finally, once almost everyone had already left they came to our table to tell us that not only had they misplaced our order, but that they had also ran out the meat of the day, the dish three of us were having. It was crazy. Now I have to give credit to the one server who did her best to apologize and to modify any other thing on the menu for us to have. And, the food we did end up receiving was good. But after waiting for that long and not even getting what we ordered, it was pretty disappointing. In any other setting the diner would be offered a discount or even a free meal. We got a small complimentary app, but that’s about it. I’m sure this doesn’t happen all the time but just keep in mind that if you are hungry or have somewhere to be, maybe this isn’t the best place to go. Also it’s decently expensive to be offering up that poor quality service.

Was here quite some time ago now(probably around the start of this year). I heard a lot of good things about Nose2Tail and my expectations were quite high. First off, the place is hard to find! As many have mentioned there is a discreet sign and some stairs down into a basement in a back alley in Kødbyen. Well, after finding it you will see that this is a very cozy places, candles and soft light all over. As a side note the sound level is quite high. I got placed at a table and ordered a three course menu, and I guess this is where the problems began. The service was alright at first, but after finishing a starter, that was not to my liking, having to wait 40 minutes for the main course was just too much. The waiters passed me several times and I mentioned that I was waiting, but to no avail(was running out of beer as well! ;)). Finally a waiter came out with the food, and I dont know if it was the wait or the lack of service, but it wasnt all that good. As a side note there was a table next to me with a guy that started defending the restaurant quite intensively, which I thought was really odd, turns out he worked there and was having a night out. Either way the situation was quite uncomfortable to be honest as I thought I shouldn’t have to sit and argue with a grumpy employee(he seemed offended)… As a compensation I did get the dessert for free, and that chocolate mousse was really good but all in all the amount of problems were enough for me not wanting to go here again. Hopefully they’ve shaped up since then. :)

If I had the money to live in Copenhagen, I’d become a regular at Nose2Tail. We were tempted to make a second trip in our two weeks visiting, but there were a few other places on our list that we had to hit up before heading home. All because a kind local had recommended this place to us, knowing that we love our food. All the parts of the animal are used, hence Nose2Tail’s name. The menu’s not terribly complicated. Each day, they have a special Meat Dish, a Fish Dish, and an Offal Dish(which they call Pluck). There is a charcuterie board from which you can choose two sizes — small as an appetizer for two or a dinner for one and large as a meal for two. We ordered a charcuterie board to start and shared the Fish of the Day and Offal of the Day. The potatoes on the side were so good that we asked to wrap them up to go because we didn’t have enough room in our bellies for more. SOOO it’s not customary for you to take things to go around here, but they did it for us anyway. YAY! It gets a little stuffy being below ground, but perhaps in the winter, that’s a welcome feeling? Also the Fernet bottles as candle holders reminded us a little bit of home…

I was told the tale of Nose2Tail by a dear friend who I regularly hang out with at PâtéPâté. An amazing restaurant in the meatpacking district that we haven’t tried yet? FORSHAME. Clearly I had to move it to the top of my To Eat list and get that one checked off, pronto. So, now that I have sufficiently covered the Kødbyen food territory, I feel qualified to say Nose2Tail is my new favorite. The concept is brilliant(they use free-range grass-fed everything, and don’t waste a single organ — clearly I’m a fan), the food is absolutely divine, the selection of wines is fantastic, and the ambiance is extremely hyggelig. I came here on a «date» with one of my closest friends from NY and we both could not shut up about how great the food was, from start to finish. The only drawback is that my jacket smelled like meat fat for about a week afterward. If you come here in winter, do not be tempted to hang yours by the bar where all the convenient hooks are. The entrance to the kitchen is right next to that wall, and trust me, you will regret it(even my perfume wasn’t strong enough to destroy the stench). Perfect venue for groups up to 6 – 8(they may be able to accommodate more), a date, or girls night out. And as the saying goes: Eat more bacon, have more sex.
