Bakken

Four of us ventured here for some quick grub as the other dining options in the Meatpacking District were all extremely busy and we were too hungry/​hangry to queue.
It looks to be more geared towards being a bar/​nightclub than a restaurant on first appearance if I’m honest, though the available beers were woefully disappointing — Tubourg or Sol — c’mon guys, you need to seriously up your game here considering who your neighbours are (WarPigs).
I ended up ordering their General Tso´s fried chicken burger which came with sweet onion, cabbage slaw, coriander and spring onion mayo. Prepare to make a mess; this burger’s seriously moisture-​laden! For 85 krone (£9) it was satisfying and did the job.
We finished our meals and moved on — there was nothing drinks-​wise that compelled us to stay.

Bakken is a trendy, dive-​style bar that is very aware that it’s trendy and dive-​style. Luckily that includes dive prices (30 kr) for beer, but be aware that it’s in a can. Ordering at the bar is challenging; be aggressive.
I was here for two hours or so and the atmosphere changed drastically. Earlier evening (23ish) it’s a loud but relaxed bar — after midnight it’s a crammed dance club. The tables out front are perfect for escaping the can of sardines that is the dance floor, with blankets and heat lamps provided to ward off the evening chill. They do play better than average music and it’s a great place for mingling with travelers and locals alike, so Bakken is A-​OK by me.

I LOVE THIS CLUB. I had the best time of my life dancing here for my birthday weekend! The music on the particular evening I went had a 70s/​80s vibe, and was lovely to dance to. There is a great smoking area in the back, which my Danish friends and I utilized quite often. The bathrooms are covered in graffiti, and have the bonus of a double toilet so you and your friend can pee and chat at the same time. But in all seriousness, I would definitely come back to Bakken! The vibe was chill and the lighting was perfect. It kind of felt like an abandoned subway station. Come here to dance with your friends, or alone in the packed room. Everyone in Bakken was vibing out which fostered a great dance environment.

Auf ein Bierchen… vielleicht! Wir waren zugegeben früh da (Freitags, so gegen 23 Uhr) — da war noch nicht viel los. Im Internet haben wir gelesen, daß dies DER Hotspots für Donnerstag Abend sein soll — fahrt nicht hin (zumindest nicht im Winter). Da ist gar nichts. Entweder ist die Info veraltet oder es betrifft nur den Sommer.
Alles in allem nette, verranzte Bar (passend zum Viertel).
