Fantastic! Food and atmosphere are exactly how it should be in a classic brasserie. Will definitely come again.

I just loved eating at Sokkelund. They have the potential for a perfect 5 star review, BUT service is a bit slow, when you compare with the price you pay. I also have some minor details about the food. Mussels are my thing, and here you both can get them for a starter and for a main dish. They are the perfect size about 1.5 inch, and are served in a great sauce. You also get a extra plate for your shells. Wonderful! You can choose size of your main meat dish. E.g. you can get your ribeye in 250, 375, 2×250 grams. I always go for a steak larger than 300 grams, because it’s difficult to get a smaller piece done rare. The fries are good, but not perfect. I love them crisp on the outside and soft inside. Here they all are crisp on the outside, but because of their uneven size some of the fries are just crisp. The bearnaise is wow. Crème brûlée is a classic dish, and you can always discuss, if the custard have to be cold or temperate. I’m a cold type, because you get this difference in texture and temperature, when you crush the melted layer of sugar. At Sokkelund the custard is temperated. Brewages are good but also a bit expensive at Sokkelund. You have to pay for quality. Water is free — thumbs up! Sokkelund is a busy place, and you can wait a bit to long for service. It would be okay, if it was a less expensive place to eat. I expect a bit more in this price range.

I’ve been here a few times now for lunch and brunch. I got to say I particularly look forward to brunch here ‘not to heavy not to light’. Lots to choose from for lunch or dinner last time I simply had the green asparagus for starters and a steak for mains. The steak was cooked to my liking and I other reviewers have raved about the chips but I found them a little over done. staff have always been pleasant but busy, every time I’ve been here it’s been pretty full and I enjoyed the option of seat outside in the sun. The space is tight between the tables which can’t be awkward when getting in and out. Wine list draws from main wine regions of France, Italian and Spain a small but good selection.

Had business lunch at this local brasserie. I did find the menu card a bit confusing with both smörgåsbord and French dishes. My shrimp sandwich and tuna salad were ok. Ambience was local and cozy with many families on a weekday. Would I travel to eat there again… no. But if I was a local I would likely be a regular

I was drawn to Sokkelund by its favorable reviews and was sadly very disappointed. The other reviews are correct in that it’s expensive, so we expected as much. But, it was the service that really destroyed the experience for us. After being essentially ignored by one waiter, another began«attending» our table(though she barely actually attended it…) and seemed just as annoyed as the first waiter by the task. The food was average at best. Did we have something on our shirts? Did we smell funny? I can’t be certain… But, I don’t think so. Anyway, I’ll always direct friends away from this place in the future.

One of the best cafés in Frederiksberg if not the best. The burger is soooooo good and the chilimayo too. A lot of things to choose from the menu and I’ve always been satisfied. Only negative thing to say is that it’s a bit expensive compared to other cafés, but I think it’s worth it. Nice friendly staff too.

This is a fancy, pricey French Bistro. For this review I tried: «Sokkelund» Burger & Fries CheeseCake & Crème Brulée Coca Cola(Generic, not reviewed) Total points:16. Result is 3.2 Verdict: A good, safe-choice and very expensive café. You won’t be disappointed. But you won’t be wowed either(okay, you’ll be Wow’ed by their fries, but they heavy price tag for the food evens it out, unfortunately). **The Fries were so exquisite that they’ve been rated alone** Fries 5⁄5 — they were ridiculously good, and good fries are very hard to come by in Copenhagen. Double fried(I reckon) and very crispy. They also nailed the homemade aïoli. Their bearnaise was too sweet for my liking. Their serving of Heinz was also relevant, but since I am European, the ketchup went into my burger instead. Burger 3⁄5 — A good well made burger. Nothing more, nothing less. Meat was well cooked, bun was nice and soft, but the taste was pretty standard for a Burger. Dessert 3⁄5 — Stunned by the visually very appealing cheesecake, the taste unfortunately didn’t follow up. It looked fancy and round, and i like the idea of churned milk mousse on top. The cherry sauce on the side didn’t go well and I prefer to have fruits which are in season instead of a all year sauce that reminds me of Ris a’la mande(cough*COSTCUTTING*cough). Bertels still make the best cheesecakes on Frederiksberg and for 50% of the price of this. The crème brulée also lacked a lot of flavor, and the other restaurant next door makes a better one(for less money) Atmosphere & Service 3⁄5 — Efficient service, the french«Quick/arrogant» way. Some like it, Some don’t. I don’t mind it. However, I do mind when you can’t conversate with people at my table, even if it’s in the middle of an early dinner rush. This acoustics of this place could be better. Price 2⁄5. When you demand 179 kr for a Burger, you’ve gotta nail it. 79 kr for a «standard» dessert also implies a level of taste that they did not meet. Total points of 16. Number of categories: 5 16⁄5 = 3,2

Came back with the Unilocal Burger Gang for the specific purpose of trying Sokkelundens plain, old-fashioned burger. It’s essentially the same as their tartare burger, except for the patty. In my opinion the ingredients make more sense in this context, hence the extra star. Also, since we were going as a group I can now confidently say that the place isn’t really suitable for such. I could speak to the three people closest to me, but due to the noise level it was difficult hearing someone two seats down, and further than that you’d have to shout to each other. I suppose it would work for a small group, say, six people tops.

Reservations were a good idea, judging by the amount of people sitting in here when we arrived a little before 10:30am on a Sunday. Though the hangover brunch looked good, all I really wanted was the burger and fries; it didn’t make sense to pay extra for the addition of pancakes and yogurt with muesli. I am a little tired of brunch in general in Copenhagen so I opted for an omelette and my friend got a croque madame. The ham and cheese omelette was HUGE. I’d guess it was made of at least 5 eggs and probably a better portion for two people. Good thing I was really hungry. It was just salty enough and the eggs were fluffy. Tasted nicely of butter, though it came with even more butter and some rye bread on the side; the latter of which was good with lots of rye seeds and sunflower seeds. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his croque madame. It seemed small but was filling. We also ordered the freshly-squeezed orange juice, which we both loved. I wasn’t wild about the ice cubes in it but it didn’t take too much away from the fresh orange taste. The service was very fast and polite. A lady sitting at the table next to us happened to drop her fork twice and both times our waiter came up with a clean fork in about 30 seconds without being asked. Or maybe she just wanted to look into his dreamy eyes. The only reason it doesn’t get five stars is because it is a little cramped. I understand they are trying to allow as many guests as possible, but it was a little awkward having a waiter’s ass(though it was a nice one) in my face as he’s serving the table next to us. Also it was surprisingly loud in there! We almost had to shout at each other over the table.

We came on a Tuesday afternoon after class and were able to find seats indoors without any trouble. The interior has a nice French wine bar feel to it. I got the hangover brunch which was the perfect sampling of sweet and savory. The Greek yogurt needed some maple syrup added but there was plenty to go around from the pancakes. The burger was perfectly cooked and had a lovely aioli spread paired well with the juicy meat. We both got the beet juice with our meals which I am happy to have tried but wouldn’t recommend to drink with your meal. While more expensive, I recommend the hangover brunch over their traditional one with salmon and pork products, which my friend got. Mine felt more like a complete meal. I also had enough leftover for another lunch the next day. The portions are large so come hungry! The service was slow; it reminded me of a true brasserie in France. Come here if you have time to waste in good company. Perhaps it will cure your hangover woes one morning– but no promises.

The nicest café on Frederiksberg indeed. A bit pricey but perfect for a cup of coffee or an early dinner after a good long walk in Frederiksberg having visited the elephants. I recommend sharing the moules frites with a glas of Chardonnay on the side

Wow what a great brunch! I decided to treat myself to a good brunch and opted to try out Sokkelund and am so happy I did. I got the ‘Den Lette’ brunch which included: Yoghurt w/fresh berries and maple syrup, Scrambled eggs w grilled pancetta, Tomato salad, Salmon with Danish smoked cheese cream. 2 cheeses served with olives, Pancake with black berry marmalade, two kinds of bread with butter and with a glass of fresh orange juice. Everything was fresh and tasty and the pancake w/blackberry marmalade was outstanding. The yoghurt w/berries and maple syrup was also pretty memorable and I’d definitely go again to try something else. Was perfectly sunny sitting out front and a great way to start off my birthday!

The french fries are divine, even after transporting them 5 minutes after a takeout, and the burgers are near perfect every time(tried the burger and fries takeout at least 20 times by now and still coming back!). Didn’t eat there yet, but for sure will some day. Would give the burger 6 stars if it were possible and if they changed the pickle to salted dill pickles instead of the common sour sweet pickles in DK! Also, Sokkelund could work a little with a more constant french fries portion size on the takeout.

While I’ll admit to spending a lot of time criticizing the concept of having a large plate with a small bite of everything for brunch(instead of a large plate of a few things, done solidly — see my review for Manfreds for reference), Sokkelund totally killed it with our brunch yesterday. The eggs were divine, the pancetta was crispy, and overall, the flavors were both magically sweet and delectably savory. The latte was perfect, and though I don’t think it merits taking away a star, the orange juice could’ve been thicker, and without ice cubes. If I’m going to drink OJ, I prefer to chew it(ie, more pulp), but that’s just a personal preference. Otherwise, the café is filled with all sorts of hygge. Our waitress was delightful, our food came quickly, and I didn’t need to eat again for the rest of the day. Will definitely be going back.

Great bistro/café very close to Frederiksberg park. Food is a class above standard café fare in Copenhagen.

A popular French-style brasserie in Frederiksberg, Sokkelund is fairly bustling most nights. Standards on the menu include moules frites, fois gras etc etc, and mains will set you back around 140DKK. Add a bottle of fine Riesling for 275DKK and you’ll be looking at a few quid for dinner. The ambience is really nice, but the portions could be a bit more generous. Having said that my dining partner only finished half, so maybe I’m just greedy.
