Lovely square location near University. Very good service and a delight to sit in sunny Copenhagen and have a ½ carafe of white wine with cheesy cannelloni with delicate béchamel, ricotta and spinach for lunch!!!

This place may be the greatest restaurant in Copenhagen. While preparing for our stop in Copenhagen I researched restaurant after restaurant and after looking at the menu for 37 different Danish restaurants I realized that I obviously do not like Danish food. Considering that I was going to be IN Denmark that was a problem. I resolved myself to getting burgers and other small items at Tivoli. By dinner on our first night here I was getting hungry for something more substantial so my mom looked up to see what was nearby. That is literally how we discovered Ristorante Italiano — on accident… I cannot believe our luck. So we took a cab over and ordered the following Bruschetta Salad(just the basic one) Veal Scallopini Marsala Type dish Lasagne Chocolate Souflee Everything was wonderful. We have both been all over Italy several years ago and when I ate the food it was like I was transported back. We both agreed that this was one of the best meals we had encountered on our vacation. So the next day(today) comes and we have to decide what to have for dinner again… And it just pained me to think that I could leave Copenhagen and not eat at this restaurant again. Especially considering that everything else seemed so unappealing. Suddenly were back again Bruschetta Salad Lobster soup Veal again Margarita Pizza Chocolate Souflee Crème Brûlée Everything tastes wonderful here. The food is so good that as you eat it it’s like the food is thanking you by kissing your tastebuds. What makes this place 5 stars to me is so much more than the food though. The waiters are superb. Better than some of The top restaurants all around the world. They are attentive and meticulous. They let you sit and really experience your food. So often in expensive restaurants you are rushed from course to course as those waiters want to have as quick of turnover as possible. At Ristorante Italiano they treat you like it’s a family dinner. Like you could sit there all night and that would be ok as you luxuriously nibble on each course. While you eat you are surrounded by Italian art and the essence of Italy. A man comes out with a guitarist and serenades you personally as if you’re on a gondola going down the canals of Venice. Finally, as we left for the evening we each received a rose from our waiter and kisses on both cheek This isn’t a restaurant — it is a life altering experience. When I come back to Copenhagen you can bet that this is where I’ll stop first

Been at this restaurant plenty of times and it’s always a good experience. Solid food, reasonable prices and excellent service. In the summertime I prefer to sit outside with a view at the church. Inside décor is quite cosy. Pizza, pastas, meatdishes and dessert — only had tasty servings.

This restaurant has great outdoors seating and an awesome atmosphere. We ordered, service was relatively good for Copenhagen. They also gave us Champagne on the house which was nice. We got pizzas and pasta and found the good to be relatively good. They also had live music which made the atmosphere fun. At this point this was a five star dinner. However, when it came time to pay, we paid and were informed by the waiter that there was no tip included in the bill. It is my understanding having gone to Europe many times that service is always included and tips are only given for exceptional service. The waiter though, made us feel guilty, and we ended up leaving a small tip. I do though, feel a bit like they were trying to scam me. And had it been true that tips are expected, this is very unclear. I found this tipping issue to be a serious problem and took off two stars.

Nice place in Denmark very friend staff good food, they are true Italians with the happy friendly attitude. I need some wifi and they gave me free access to there, I ordered some spaghetti and had some red wine. I had been here a couple of years ago and just happened to come upon this same place again. Service is a bit slow which is fine since that is just how they do it in Denmark if you are in Copenhagen this is a nice stop.

We ate pasta– me-ravioli and partner cannelloni. A ½ carafe of house red wine. The bill was 494 with 5 Danish kroner so to a dollar. expensive, but the pasta was fresh and tender and the sauces tasty. Denmark is more expensive than Sweden. Saturday night it was very busy and they had a table side opera singer accompanied by a violin, an accordion and a guitar. It was delightful. The service is a bit slow to start and end but it is not rushed.

After giving it some careful thought I decided to give Restaurante Italiano 2 stars instead of 3. While it looks very welcoming and crowded, it really doesn’t live up to the standards the prices would suggest. The location is great and the staff did a good job, yet I would not recommend the place. The food was not really bad. The cognac sauce actually tasted quite good. But if you look at the picture I uploaded(Veal with Cognac sauce, picture 4) you would not expect that to be a platter worth 239, — Kronen. The meat wasn’t high quality, the vegetables were overcooked at best and the potatoes were, well, the few the proud? Overall, it doesn’t really look delicious. Also, not a quantity to satisfy a great hunger with. The beer(Carlsberg, 0,4l) was insanely expensive(59, — Kronen) but then again I might give them the benefit of the doubt as Copenhagen is generally very expensive with regards to alcohol. My girlfriend had a seafood platter(see picture 5) which was much richer, looked better and also was cheaper than what I had. The pasta however was definately overcooked(not al dente). All in all, nothing special. Nothing a regular hobby-cook couldn’t do without much trouble. Not bad, just. meh … let’s call it «room for improvement».
