While Corner & i ambiance was nicer than other Chinese restaurants in the area, the staff was more focused on the letter«i» than the whole word«Service.» I had to ask for my own place setting, then spoon, then napkin, then water. I almost went to get it myself. About a third of their fancy pictorial menu book was crossed-out. Maybe it’s time to print a new set instead of letting the customers see all the disappointing Xs. I arrived about 20 minutes before closing. There was one other party, and I figured my order would be quick. It took almost 25 – 30 minutes for the Dan-Dan noodle soup to come out of the kitchen. The noodles were good and spicy. My vegetables never came. My waitress disappeared and I had to flag the other one down to get my check. That did come quickly. Note to self: Next time in Copenhagen, don’t power nap on a weeknight until 10PM because the only restaurants open will probably be Chinese.

This place happened to be next to the hotel we were staying at. So we have it a try and it was a winner. Very friend wait staff and manager and the food was amazing. We got the lamb chops and they were amazing falling right off the bone with a great seasoning. Also got the sweet and sour port and the chicken and peanuts and those also were excellent. For a starter we got the fried prawns and the pork steamed buns which were also excellent.

The first impression wasn’t very good; when I wanted to order a couple of bottles of tap water for our group of 11, I was informed that each 1 liter bottle was meant for one person. What is it with Danish restaurants charging for tap water, anyway? To make matters worse, nearly half the menu items were unavailable(for that day, at least). But after that, things only went uphill. We ordered one dish each, plus two vegetarian plates, and shared everything. Which is good because all the dishes come out one by one. The dry-fried green beans were comparable to Magasasa’s, but with less garlic and instead pleasant, sweet and crunchy salt flakes. The dandan noodles were nice with a very moreish broth and a spiciness that crept up on you slowly. Some of the dishes were very spicy but the waitress did a good job warning our group in English which were hot and which were ‘safe.’ One dish that stood out in particular was the fish in green chili sauce. It looked unassuming enough; actually similar to Magasasa’s fish with pickled vegetables. Though I missed the sourness of the pickles and was weirded out by the cooked iceberg lettuce, the thick cuts of fish were still pillowy soft and the spicy broth was delicious. For dessert there was egg tarts in a flaky crust and what i’m guessing was rice flour pancake rolled up with red bean paste and dusted with soybean flour? They were both very good, I highly recommend trying them. We split the bill and it came out to be about 200 – 250 dkk per person; very reasonable for the amount of food we ate. They were also happy to bag up the dishes that we weren’t able to finish.

The best Szechuan kitchen in copenhagen, super spicy very authentic chinese food. Very kind service and convenient location a short walk from the central station. The Szechuan kitchen is very spicy so the majority of dishes are not for the faint of heart :)
