Located on San Francisco, equal distance from the main streets Alameda and Matta, this minimarket is the closest thing to the vega us high-rise dwellers will find without walking too far. Today I didn’t have time to do my regular shopping and because I have always passed this inviting market, I opted to do my veggie shopping here instead of the regular San Juan or Lider choice. Unfortunately, it could be because I came late, or it is a Sunday but everything was picked over and what was left were the mushy or wilting veggies(I will have to come earlier next time). However, the staples of papas, palta, tomatoes, apples, bananas and lettuce were still good! Plus, they had brussel sprouts(and they were deliciously fresh and green). Other than that, the prices were pretty similar to the Vega — with an increase of a couple 100 pesos or so — not bad if you don’t want to make the trek to the Vega! They even do home delivery if you live in the barrio(amazing!) Not only do the offer fruits and veggies but you can also buy eggs, bread and other goodies. Don’t forget to come with cash because they don’t accept credit cards. You don’t need much to get the basic — you can leave with your arms full for 5 mil. Tip: If you want to buy a lot, they don’t have large bags so come with your own.
