I have had better sushi at cheaper sushi bars. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. Service is fast and servers know the menu. I do not recommend the iced green tea its thick and chalky. The rolls a good but not great and the sashimi is very expensive and not the worth the price. Location is nice and seating is comfortable. I would rather go to sushiya.

The sushi at Wasabi is always fantastic and fresh. They are the only place that offers certain combinations that I love. However I would MUCH rather go to the Taylor location. The décor is better, the parking is better and this location doesn’t get very busy at all. And the fact that it isn’t busy — yet still has the slowest service ever just confuses me. I would give this place one more star if they fixed their slow service because the sushi is the best that I’ve had anywhere outside of California.

My sister and I make it a tradition to eat here at least once on every visit I make home to the ‘peg. Fish is always fresh and interesting rolls are plentiful. Our staple is pizza sushi and shitake mushroom tempura. Yummy!

I came to this restaurant to try out one dish, the seared tuna in honey plum sauce. To be honest that’s the best rendition of seared tuna as it also had some tempura crust, it made my taste buds do somersaults. The service is great, but the I don’t like the dark ambiance. Unfortunately, that dish is ridiculously expensive(though I didn’t see the price of this one as my wife was hiding it from me so I won’t get too shocked), and their other dishes are quite expensive as well. I had their Beni Chiraishi which is basically smoked salmon(or at least it tasted like smoked salmon) on a bed of rice. However, for the price I paid($ 16 + taxes) and only getting«bleh don’t really want to eat this» salad and«it’s just normal» miso soup, I think it is very much a rip off. I would still go there for the tuna, just like I would still go to Chung King @ Markham for their Crispy Beef as this is the only place I know that makes such a dish. Otherwise, it’s not worth it.

This was the very first place I tried sushi many years ago when I lived in Winnipeg. Whenever I come back for a visit it is a must to go to Wasabi! My favorite non traditional very westernized roll is the volcano roll; probably mostly because it was the very first roll my sister convinced me to try many years ago :) The expense is a bit more than the typical place but overall it has been worth it! They have a screened in patio, regular tables, as well as upstairs the ones you sit on the floor with your feet under the table. Would recommend trying at least once if you’re ever visiting Winnipeg.

I’d give this place 2.5 stars — the sushi was not very good but I liked the ambiance at the Osbourne location. I think the sushi at Wasabi on Broadway and and Wasabi Sabi are of much better quality. Here, the tuna nachos($ 14 for 6 pieces) were drenched in mayo which masked the taste of the tuna and was missing some acid to balance the taste — a huge disappointment as this is a fav dish of mine. The sweet beet roll(veggie roll) should’ve been called the cream cheese roll as that’s all you tasted instead of the star ingredient. The other rolls were decent and fresh but not great. I’m not sure why this place charges extra for ginger and wasabi as other sushi restaurants offer it for free? But I do like the casual loungy atmosphere here — it’s way less snobby than the two sister restaurants. The servers here are effective but don’t seem to be as well trained as the other places but they also offer less attitude so that’s fine with me since I know what to order.
