I have lived away from the«Peg for around 30 years. I really miss Gary’s Deli when it was in Garden City. So a quick Unilocal search brought me here for a Winnipeg style Corned Beef Sandwich. It delivered. Well! The classic Wpg style rye. Fantastic! 5 stars.

Great food! Fantastic service! Nothing super fancy but that is part of its charm. :) They are open later for Jets games now. Their deli platter is perfect for sobering up after a night of drinking. They don’t have a changing table in the women’s bathroom but they have a cart with wheels that they keep in the bathroom for supplies. I found this really convenient because I could put my bag on the shelves below and not have to worry about putting it on the ground or trying to find a hook that might not be anywhere near me.

The location is a bit hidden on Hargrave on the main floor of an office building. The décor is nothing interesting but the food and service are great! They have various daily specials. I like the Thursday special — clubhouse with half dill for $ 7.95. You get a nice clubhouse with crispy bacon on white bread(or rye if you want). The dill pickle is delicious. «Oscar’s Rubin» platter($ 10.75) includes ¼ lb corned beef with cheese and sauerkraut on rye is yum. The size here is nothing close to the deli places I’ve tried in Montréal but that’s a good thing as I find it more of an approachable size. Not sure why he spells his reuben like«Rubin»…anyhow, I realized that I’ve never had a reuben before and wonder why I’ve never ordered one sooner? Great sandwich but half is enough for me at lunch as you also get coleslaw or potato salad. The coleslaw is tangy and not overdressed. Service is very prompt and warm. Nice place for comfort food and a fast lunch.
