I was never an Elephant & Castle fan, but decided to eat here as it was very conveniently located. I was impressed! Much better than the E&C I remember. Good beer selection that includes many local breweries, friendly staff, and the food was much better than I remember. I even came back a second time.

Anyone who considers this an English pub needs to be banned from any real pubs. Nice stained glass outside but inside modern dark anypub décor. No ale on tap — usual bud pee lager etc, Ordered the butter chicken, should have been advertised as butter chicken soup, where was the chicken? Tasted ok but not great. There must be better — surely?

Can’t really speak to the food but some of the worst bartenders I’ve encountered. They are indistinguishable from the popular girl clique in high school. More interested in gossip and themselves with no time for or interest in the customers. If you are lucky enough to get a drink order in you’ll never see them stop by again. Floor staff and maitre d are decent.

Good food at the right price, very pleasant staff, nice patio. A real neighbourhood pub feel, but with an urban look.

I had supper this evening at Elephant & Castle. I ordered Butter Chicken. It looked good and the sauce was delicious … except there wasn’t a lot of chicken. Alas, it was mostly sauce with a few small specks of chicken. I was still hungry and thought about ordering dessert but I don’t really have a sweet tooth. Wings were $ 0.39 each tonight. There was a minimum of 10 so that’s what I ordered for«dessert» and I had enough to feel full.

New menu was fantastic. Really elevated pub food. This place is now a true Gastropub in every sense although it would have been good if there was more than 2 dark beers on tap. Our party had the traditional fare of bangers and mash, shepherds pie and roast beef Yorkshire Pudding. Each were distinctively seasoned and were not over salted at all which was really good to see. The décor is fantastic and tasteful and is a definite improvement from where it was. Highly recommend this place, decent portions as well which was welcoming for this hungry reviewer.

Pleasantly surprised! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the rice was hot and fluffy-they cook it to order rather than let it sit around all evening. The waitress(Jaime) was very attentive and everything came out quickly. The best though, was the Bailey’s Cheesecake. Perfection! Not too loud, and lots of TVs with basketball and Hockey. A really nice experience.

Usually when there is a restaurant/pub at a hotel, they are nothing special. Since this place had been closed for renovations for a long time, I thought I would try it out. Not impressed. The beer selection was pretty good with a couple craft beers on tap. The burgers are WAY over cooked and the meat had very little flavor. The poutine was pretty good. There has to be a better place near by.

Awful service. My boyfriend and I were here for an hour before we served our food(a very simple order). A large party and other person showed up long after us and received their meals long long before we did. Food was okay but would not recommend to anyone.

Walking distance from several hotels! I had the Butter Chicken Poutine. OMG, cheese, fries, butter chicken? Genius! I know it’s a chain, but it was close to the hotel and I was hungry! A short walk down away and we were greeted by friendly faces and delicious food. Hopefully I’ll be back again soon to try a different poutine.

Best large fries in town. Renovated in the Spring of 2014. More flat tv screens added, making it more sports bar then before. I no longer recommend this restaurant.

Cor Blimey! Gavver rahnd the ol’ Johanna for a right ol’ knees-up wiv all me chinas. Or something like that. No, the E&C is not that authentic, but it’s actually not that far off the real thing, although the overall effect is ‘outer suburban London boozer’. It’s the kind of place I’d have found faintly depressing 20 years ago, but now find it to be pleasantly low-key for a stranger in town on a Sat night. It checks all the boxes: –Curry on the menu –Fruit machines –Lots of ‘blokes’ engaged in blokey banter with each other The food was pretty good — wings a bit small and crispy, but the sp fries were excellent. Had the Asian salad the 2nd night which was v good also Very good beer selection(although they don’t include the ABV — and the local drafts are strong). The bartender was excellent; friendly, attentive and patient with my dawdling through the beer selection. He engaged in a big way with the regulars, which is always good to see. He also remembered my beer of choice the following night. You could do a lot worse…

I’m in this pub whenever I’m here for Jets or Blue Bombers games. It’s always packed and full of interesting people. Food is good, and drinks are better!

My friend Simon very generously shared his tickets to the first home game of the Winnipeg Jets with me! Before the game, we were looking for a place to grab some lunch and a quick pint. Recognizing the E & C brand, we thought, this should be OK. It was more than OK, it was actually a pretty good pub! Excellent, very friendly service, reasonably priced pints, and excellently seasoned and battered fish and chips. Of course, E&C isn’t authentic — but if you want a decent English«style» pub in downtown Winnipeg, you can’t go wrong with this one.

This is an English-style pub located in the Delta Hotel. I came here for dinner after a day at the office. I ordered the fish and chips. I think the quality of the fish was fine. However, the poor filet was over-cooked in the fryer. It was almost as hard as a hockey puck. Additionally, I had a side of salad greens. And it was absolutely swimming in a dressing that was cloyingly sweet. On the plus side, the Guinness was fine. I’m on the fence as to whether I would return. I want to give it another chance since the waitress was nice. But the food wasn’t encouraging.

Its a wanna-be British Pub, without a a true IPA. We had black and Tans… yummy. Chicken Pot Pie was a winner The steak sandwich had no top bread or even sides… it was lame Fish and chips were huge and of mediocre quality. The waitress was a hottie with a naughty body, fer-sure
