Went here a few years back and it was amazing. I really hope it’s still there as I’m heading this weekend. Amazing prices and amazing buns, so fresh and delicious. I got mine French toasted too, and it cost $ 5 total. A must go when in Winnipeg!

Despite the far distance from my home, I usually go out of my way for a sticky bun. I’m just happy they make some of them vegan! I once had an Oreo bun & it was scrumptiously delicious! I’ve had their other vegan choices, but in my world, they’d all be vegan. Anyway, Jonnie is a good guy and has great buns!

Went back to actual sit in the tiny area they have. Both enjoyed the sweet darma bun, and the coffee they have. In addition the host let us try a Christmas bun they were working on called the drunk uncle, it have to make it back to get one. Great little place to get some unusually sticky or not sticky buns, I can recommend the coffee.

Tiny unassuming bakery on Portage Ave(westbound side, just after the LC/Shoppers stripmall) specializes in sticky buns. This place caters to nearly everyone with items that are gluten free, vegan, whole wheat, savory, sweet and even those that like bacon on their sweets. The place has a very laid back vibe. There is a teeny tiny seating area with two very small tables and a banquette of sorts with some random mismatched chairs. It’s very close/cozy seating, almost communal style, something I am not a fan of. This will be more of pick up and go kind of place as opposed to a sit down and enjoy kind of place(for me at least!) The small counter has only about 6 or 7 flavours with more specials on the weekend. The buns range in price from $ 1.50 to $ 3.25; not bad since specialty bakeries can be pricey. Overall, their sticky buns aren’t overly sweet, which suits my tastes but I think if you want a really over the top sticky bun, then you may be a bit disappointed. «The Leroy»($ 1.50) is the minimalist style sticky bun since it’s just a regular organic white flour sticky bun with no raisins or nuts. The exterior of the bun wasn’t very sticky at all for those who were expecting something more ooey gooey. The texture of the bun is very soft in the middle with a slight crust outside. The filling tasted sweet with a single note but I can’t say I tasted much cinnamon; there was something missing but I can’t figure out what it is. This is the plainest flavour so I suggest that you top this the various«French toast» options to jazz up this flavour if you’re dining in. If you like the simple sticky bun but want more icing, go for the«Princess Leia» which cost a bit more than the Leroy(has caramel icing) but definitely more of the softer and sweeter sticky bun that most people expect. «The Classic»($ 2.25) is the no frills whole wheat sticky bun — pretty decent and doesn’t taste too grainy and was moist. «Raison»($ 2.25) is the whole wheat bun with lots of raisins. «The chocolate chip»($ 2.25) is drizzled with Calabaut dark chocolate with a coffee cream icing inside. Definitely, the sweetest one that I sampled but the dark chocolate keeps everything balanced. «Carrot Ginger»($ 3) is the maple baked organic carrots with candied ginger — a very interesting and unique flavour. I think the one I enjoyed the most is the«breakfast bun»($ 3.25) which has maple syrup, bacon and baked apples. Now, I don’t recall tasting any apple or maple syrup but the taste of bacon came through in the taste of the sticky bun. I was expecting lots of diced up bacon bits sprinkled on top, but the bacon bits were more infused in the bun with just a few pieces here and there. It was a subtle taste and I enjoyed it but I think it would’ve tasted even better with more visible bacon pieces on it. Oh and FYI, none of their buns have any of the ubiquitous cream cheese icing on any of the buns. Service is friendly though I wish their descriptions of the buns were more descriptive on their labels so you wouldn’t have to keep asking the server to describe the flavour. This place also serves loose leaf tea and will grill the sticky buns and add toppings for an additional charge. Parking is on Portage Avenue only.
