Well to start off you get a 15% discount if you show your key card from the holiday inn next door. That’s what got me here I guess… That and it was close to the hotel… OK that and I was hungry truth be told. So came on a Monday and was offered a deal on a pint of beer. Maybe in Winnipeg a «pint» is 16oz’s but as a federal regulation a «pint» is 20oz’s. So to compensate they offer you a small pitcher of beer that overall gets you closer to a pint. Good thing the pint police are not as visible in this town as is photo radar or they would be shut down. Haha… Pardon my pint size pondering… So anyway. Decent amount of nice TV’s and the place is reasonably quiet even considering the hockey playoffs that are on. So that prompted me to not go for the half price pizza and instead went with«beer, wings and hockey» I firstly ordered a «full order of wings» I was happy they came fairly quickly.(See Picture). However, I felt they were small and very over cooked — and a «full order» is 18wings FYI. They also do not come with a dip unless you pay extra. So at 14.99 that’s 83cents a wing. Pretty pricey for burnt road kill. So a little later my work colleague shows up and we order a

It doesn’t seem to matter how many people are in the room, your order is taken quickly, your food comes in a reasonable time, and you wait forever to get your bill, and then have to wait forever a second time to use the debit machine. I don’t really understand how that is possible, but it is. I have ordered:
— Pizza: Vegetarian, Perogy Pizza(minus bacon bits), The True Italian(minus the sausage) Greek, and Spinach, Ricotta & tomato pizza — I’ve had the pizzas as calzones — Greek Salad — Fiesta Taco Salad(minus beef or chicken) — Bonzo Bones — Basket of Fries — Awesome Blossom — Extreme Nachos — Various drinks The only one worth getting is the Spinach, Ricotta & Tomato, which is quite good. The other reason to go is for the deals that they regularly have on food. Monday is half prize pizza and 4 $ margaritas. Tuesday is all you can eat pasta and 3.75 Pabst Blue Ribbon, Wednesday and Thursday are deals on wings and Saturday is a half price deal on burgers. On these days, the food becomes a good price for what you are getting. They also have a trivia league, which would probably be a lot of fun. You go to garbonzo’s for the fun, the games, the drinks, and the company, and tolerate the food.

So this is a little unfair since I’m a veggie and there are really just two items for me on the menu — the obligatory salad and a ‘veggie’ pizza — but it is a sports bar after all. The newest locaton on Portage is quite large, tvs all over, beer is flowing, typical sports fare. A couple of dinner mates had bison burgers — they said it was amazing, and the portion was certainly for a manly appetite. Another had the all u can eat wings — they brought 12 to begin, then he had to keep flagging down the waiter to bring only 6 more each time. This is where they lost me — it’s all u can eat or not … either have a dozen or so at a time or keep checking in with those who order this. Trivia cards at the tables was pretty cool, and it’s loud of course but expected. It’s pretty cool, I’d return if looking for that atmosphere.

Love this place… went last night for a little while for a beer and it’s got a great atmosphere. TONS of tvs for watching Jets and Bomber games. Was pretty surprised at how big the place is and how nice the main bar looks. Mainly will be U of W students going here but definitely would recommend it to anyone since I’m not a student either. Half price pizza and wings on certain weeknights? Count me in. Check this place out. Won’t disappoint.
