We’ve been here a number of times, and we just have consistently good experiences. The menu changes regularly, but some of the highlights I’ve had are the gnocchi, the lamb shank, the veal brain, and almost any dessert. An extra nod to their cocktail menu, as it’s very good! We will continue to go back.

Came here for lunch with my husband about six months ago. We got there right when they had just opened their doors for the lunch hour. Seating is definitely limited, so it was good that we arrived there early. We were seated by the window in a two-seater table. I had ordered the bison, which was cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth delicious. I was a bit skeptical at first with ordering it, but I wanted to try something new, as I’ve never had bison before, and was worried it might have a gamey taste to it. It had definitely surprised me how delicious it was, as it almost tasted like beef. The husband ordered the wild boar porchetta sandwich, which came with a side of truffle frites. His sandwich was massive, and quite frankly, hard to eat, and required the use of knife and fork. He had tried to eat the sandwich by holding it in his hands, but it was just way too messy as there was too much mustard seeds. He thought the sandwich was okay, but didn’t like that there was so much mustard seeds. I also tried some of his truffle frites. Now, I have never had the real truffles before, so I can’t really compare the taste, but from just basing my opinion on the truffle frites alone, I can tell you that I did not like it. Are they supposed to taste like gasoline? Because that’s what I felt it tasted like, and so did my husband. Having taken a look at their online menu, it appears that they don’t offer these two items anymore, as their menu changes from time to time, which is unfortunate, because I really did enjoy their bison. Photos of both items can be found in the photo section here. Overall, I would recommend others to come try, and I would like to return as well to try their other dishes. Also, we also received some complimentary baked goods, from their shop, The Store Next Door, at the end of our meal, which I though was quite nice as we get to try something from their bakery.

This little restaurant is quite cute and another great addition to the neighbourhood. The food is high quality, but I was a little put off when I was trying to place my order with the waitress. I wanted to order the tuna and I understood that it should be cooked to medium at most — however I’m currently pregnant and don’t want to take any chances with raw seafood. I told her this and I asked if it could just be fully cooked. She warned me that it might dry out as it isn’t meant to be cooked that way — which is fine, I understand. When the food came out it wasn’t cooked throughout and I never send anything back, but I had to. She told me again it really shouldn’t be cooked more than medium and I told her again that I was pregnant and wanted it too. It was still delicious even cooked right through. I just didn’t like that I had to semi argue to make it happen. If I wasn’t pregnant I would get it medium rare like I always do. Otherwise everything was good. The store next door was cute as well. The décor was modern rustic chic. We even had dessert and it was delicious. The menu is on the smaller side and I don’t know if they change it out often, but I would come back if there were some new items.

I didn’t have the best dining experience when I tried this place in the first few months of operation. I came back recently for my second visit and really enjoyed it. I also liked that they have opened«the store next door» –bakery/espresso bar/food/cookware shop which is of course, located next door to their restaurant. I love their small, modern yet cozy dining room. The breads to start were very good especially when they brought me butter with bone marrow… YUM. I ate way too much of the bread and that was even before I ordered my meal. The crispy pork belly($ 13) with apple mostardo/pickled carrot/sprouts was a good sized portion that you can and should share. The meat was crispy on the outside and seasoned well and tender and juicy inside. The main I chose was the albacore tuna($ 23), pan seared and served rare — interesting flavours and surprisingly good portion of tuna for that price. I loved that they offer a scoop of house made ice cream or sorbet for $ 2 — sometimes you just want to end the meal with something sweet but not in a massive caloric portion. I tried the bourbon flavour — it didn’t taste too much like bourbon but I liked it and it came with some crunch bits that sort of reminded me of a crunchie chocolate bar — you know that interior honeycomb toffee taste? Very good. Service was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Dining there on a weeknight allowed for a long dinner and good conversation with my friend and we definitely did not feel rushed at all. This place always offers a little take away baked goodie when you leave. I received a yummy espresso with chocolate chip muffin that I had for breakfast the next day. Lovely place.

Every time I’ve been in Winnipeg I’ve visited this place at least once. By far my favorite restaurants in Winnipeg and in my top 10 from around the world. The pricing is incredible. The food is even better with great portions. The Chefs are experimental and from their food you can tell they love what they do. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Some of the highlights I can remember from my visits, have been the Manitoba tomatoes appetizer, Scallop appetizer, Pork Belly appetizer, and pretty much every main course. It’s also nice to see that the same amount of time and energy spent on the mains, is spent on the dessert. There really isn’t a negative to this place. If you live in Winnipeg or are visiting this is a must try!

This locally owned neighborhood restaurant is small in size, seating no more than 30 people. That’s not its only attribute. It’s very big on quality! The dishes are beautifully presented and each one we tried, from appetizers to the mains had that«oh wow» factor, as in perfectly prepared with outstanding flavors and textures. Service was excellent, the short menu will give you many choices and the wine list is diverse. Do not ignore the dessert menu!

Wow! This is probably one of my favorite places in Winnipeg. We came around 8:30 for dinner and juat had a great time. Everything on the menu is super well priced including wine and dessert. The service is attentive and very friendly. A few things to note before getting into the food part. The tables are huge so you’re kinda far from your guest. Thai restaurant seats 22 people max. You’re best to get a reservation. We had the crispy pork belly and seared scallops to start. The crispy pork belly was a huge portion. Two people could easily share this starter! It was tender and the accompanying fennel and citrus salad was just perfect with every bite. My scallops were burnt on one side so it kinda wrecked the whole dish. There was a lemon sauce on top which overpowers the delicate taste too. We both had the seared duck breast for our mains. The duck was great. Seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The spaetzle under the duck was an odd texture because there wee whole peppercorns in it and the spaetzle itself had been fried til crispy which was confusing if you had it together with the tender duck. The peppercorns were much to strong of a taste and the hard bite required to get into it again clashed with the duck. Traditional spaetzle would have worked just fine here. The server recommended the truffled frites. These were shoestring potatoes with some truffle oil on them. I found then greasy and meh. My husband liked them so it’s really dependent on your taste. We had the crème brûlée for dessert and this thing was huge! I would say its something like three times the size of a normal crème brûlée. It was perfectly set and the crunchy topping was so satisfying. It is served along with two warm chocolate chip cookies. Nothing wrong with that! When our bill came, the server dropped off two cranberry muffins to take home. This was a nice touch which reminded us of a Micheline star rated restaurant in the Peninsula Chicago. Only… This muffin was kinda dry and tasteless. Oh well! I would not hesitate to return despite some of the shortcomings. Winnipeg needs more restaurants like this one and for the residents to slippery them!
