Baba’s Tall Grass Pantry

Very disappointed in the food. Decent but bland cabbage rolls, potato and cheddar perogies were OK but the cottage cheese ones tasted like they were loaded with grassy herbs and too much pepper. Also a little thrown off that I had to heat up half of my meal. cabbage rolls and tasteless borscht came hot and the perogies cold.

I am not a Ukrainian food connoisseur so I have nothing to compare to. But I must say I had a tasty, satisfying meal from here! I ordered the Steppe sandwich with roasted potatoes and borscht.
The Steppe sandwich: the bun was soft and fresh tasting. The Ukrainian sausage had flavor without being spicy. I loved the added caramelized onions, hot mustard and sauerkraut.
The roasted potatoes: hand-​made and seasoned perfectly! They let me try their homemade ketchup which I thought tasted fresh!
Borscht: the color was fantastic from the beets. I didn’t know borscht had beets (again, not a connoisseur) but this was a great soup to balance out the sandwich and potatoes. I loved adding sour cream to it to make it more hearty too!
I loved being able to see the staff make the food right in front of me. They grilled the sausage and caramelized the onions right after I ordered! Really great spot at The Forks!
