Very disappointed. Ordered the chicken vindaloo and asked for it to be spicy. It barely tasted like vindaloo and def was no where near spicy. Service was also disappointing. Def won’t go back. It’s too bad because it would be great to have good Indian food downtown.

I have been here a few times over the years and it is good Indian food. I recall it being a bit pricey for the size of dishes you are served compared to getting the same thing at Tandoori taste of India takeout restaurant. One time we ordered food for delivery which was a special treat, my mom, husband and I ordered a bunch of food and it was delivered. Delivery costs extra but it sure was a nice treat. We live in South Windsor so they drove quite a way. We enjoyed the food, it’s a nice place if you are craving Indian.

My personal favourite Indian in the city. I find other places have a runny base to their curries but the house of India is perfect. The onion bahjis are must order with your curry

Decent food. Good service. Okay pricing. It’s dingy & kind of grimy looking. The tables and chairs are wobbly & the attempt at elegance with cloth napkins & tablecloths just left it looking awkward. Especially as the table coverings were spotted.

We were a little hesitant to walk in but once we calmed down the food was great! Service is not top notch and all menu items weren’t available but the taste and the prices made up for it all

For some reasons, we in Windsor don’t have many Indian restaurants. I can find at least 10 places to get sushi, 15 places to get shawama but only a few Indian restaurants. The house of India looks nice from the outside, you see tablecloths and real napkins. Inside, you will find the restaurant is very outdated, the carpet is in very bad shapes and the tablecloths have holes in them. Tried their lunch special in a few occasions. I am no expert in Indian food so I felt they were okay.

Absolutely great. Had the lamb karahi. It was perfect. Would liked it if the pieces were a little bigger bit it was still delicious. I savored every bit. The rice was cooked well. I usually get takeout every Monday and now this will be my new place. I want to go through their entire menu I was so impressed.

I ordered delivery from this restaurant tonight and was very disappointed. When I removed the lid from the lamb vindaloo I saw a pool of grease settled on top. At that point I almost lost my appetite. I grabbed a plate and decided to make the best of what I had. The chicken Korma was greasy and bland. The rice over cooked. The raita was a glob of yogurt with some shredded cucumber on top. No spice. No love I would not recommend this anyone

Solid Indian food right in the heart of Downtown Windsor. House of India is located right on Ouellette next to the Starbucks. The place actually looks much nicer inside than it does outside. I only came in to get takeout so I can’t comment much on the service or anything, but the menu is pretty big. They have all the Indian food staples like various Curries, Tandoori, etc. The lunch specials are good with nothing over $ 8. I ordered the Chicken Curry. I wanted to try the most basic thing they had to see if I would venture and try other things. The portion size was good. They do give a lot of rice which I love(but I’m also Asian, so…) The chicken was real tender but I was hoping they give you more. The curry tasted great and wasn’t as spicy as I imagined it would be, but still good. There were a good amount of onions and bell peppers as well. I’ll definitely come back to try other items such as the Tandoori Chicken or Tikka Marsala. It is a clean place that offers up good food at good prices. It’s solid Indian food and might be one of the better ones in Windsor. I’ve had much better Indian food elsewhere, but not in the area.
