Showcase Snowboards

This store has changed a bit, so I thought I would update my review. They remodelled the clothing section for men and women. The clothing is mostly outwear now, and the way they have it displayed, it looks a little crowded. They added some kids’ clothes too. In my opinion, this detracts significantly from Showcase’s «cool factor». The casual clothes are pretty much gone, but I heard from one of the employees that they are getting more casual clothing in for the summer.
The store is composed of four small areas. As you walk into the store, they have some sunglasses, goggles, and Go Pro stuff in the front and to the left of the register. All the outerwear behind the register. Gloves and accessories are to the right, In the last area, furthest to the right of the register, you can rent, and probably buy, a snowboard. (I don’t board, so I don’t go to that section much.)
I bought a Volcom Gortex jacket from Showcase. If you plan to ski or board at Whistler, I suggest that you just get the Gortex. Something else might be as good as Gortex, but why risk it? So far, I haven’t found anything that worked as well when standing/​skiing in the rain, or very wet «coastal», snow. I was very pretty happy with the jacket overall. I like the colour and it was a good price.
I can’t remember the name of the guy that was helping me, but he really made the sale. He showed me a lot of options and told me about the different jackets. I was going to «think about it», and he offered to put the jacket on hold for me. I came back with my current jacket, just to make sure everything would fit in the pockets without looking too funny, and I ended up purchasing it. I think without that one guy helping me, I may have just waited until next year. I appreciated that he was interested in selling me something. The other people in the store really didn’t say anything to me, except when one of them rang up the jacket.
You still get 20 percent off most full priced merchandise (like my jacket) with a season pass. I think you get some sort of discount with an edge card too. I am still giving Showcase four stars, because I still like the store, and I consider myself «a fan». I miss the casual clothes though, and the store really has a «stuffed to the gills» feeling right now in the outerwear section.

Excellent experience. I’m an older rider and needed a new pair of boots. I came at the very last minute before the shop closed. Jon took the time to have me properly fitted. He didn’t rush me at all. Will come back.

While snow boarding over the Presidents Day weekend, there was no new snow for a week and no new snow while i was there, conditions were very icy over the entire time. The conditions were so bad that my snowboard bindings broke each day for the first 3 days! Granted my bindings are old too but, all 3 days the plastic strap that you tighten down to strap in broke.
The first day it broke i took it to some place where my friends were renting their boards from. They did some quick fix by cutting the strap where it broke and drilled a new hole to hold it in place, it broke the next day (Day 2). I took it to another shop and asked if they had a replacement strap for the board, they pointed me toward Showcase.
I took my board in, they installed a new strap (lateral side front foot) and off i went. The next day (day 3) the medial side front foot strap broke! Man i was 3 for 3! Took it in again and they replaced that strap as well, all free of charge! Tyler was very helpful and enthusiastic, i thanked him profusely and asked if i could give him a few bucks for his time, he just replied, «No, we’re just here to help.» Truly a life saver, i spent the last 2 days snowboarding without any more problems!
That was the end of MY problems but the next day (day 4) my friends binding broke too! Except instead of the strap breaking he lost the toe cover strap and the ratchet part of the binding. They just charged him $ 10 for the parts! Thats pretty damn cheap, I was expecting it to be much more! Im guessing part of it is that they are an authorized Burton shop, so they have all the parts on hand!
Showcase is located neer the base of the Blackcomb gondola, maybe a 2 minute walk. I highly recommend going in there if you have problems with your board. I think that you can also rent (test ride) many of the Burton boards from there to try out some if their more popular boards, it’s much better than getting cheapie a rental board. I’d assume it would cost a little more but at least you get to try something you might want to buy in the future, i mean how can you purchase a board just on the specks or by what other people say about it? Everyone rides differently and wants something different.
I highly recommend stopping by Showcase for any of your snowboarding needs the staff is very friendly and helpful and they fix, repair, adjust, or replace parts for next to nothing.

So… As a authorized Burton shop, Showcase stepped up to the plate. As I was shredding Blackcomb, my CFX strap finally took a crap. As my trip was still in full effect, I needed to get this fixed pronto! I hit up Showcase and D-​Jax (i think. It was D something’) hooked a brotha up. Either Burton’s customer service rocks or Showcase Snowboard Homies are the Best of the Best when it comes to Service! This place gets my vote!

Can’t help but head here every time I’m on the hill. I almost always grab something. Last time I went my gf was like «That hoodie didn’t even know what was coming!» when i snatched up a deal on a Hurley hoodie. Still love my burton backpack for camera gear and straps for my snowboard too. Love the place and the staff, just wish they made themselves a little more available… can’t always seem to track someone down. Love love love the edge card discount too.

This is one of my favorite shops! I bought a couple really cute things from here. I got a nice light weight rain coat and a cute flannel shirt. Best part is, if you have an Edge Card you save 20% off full priced items. SCORE!

Unfortunately I didn’t buy anything here, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort. I’ve been looking for something between my windbreaker and my North Face blizzard, –40* C, down and puffy with fur lining jacket for some time. Went here to see if there were any offerings that suited my taste.
The sales guy was super helpful. Really nice and had me trying on/​showing me just about all they had in the shop. Lots of the jackets were just too far out there for me, and the two that did look normal didn’t fit quite right.
The wife also had fun shopping around and they had a great selection of street clothes and few metric tons of snowboards as well.
