Never been to Waterloo before. Chose this place because of the Unilocal reviews. What a great place! Really good home made food, meat smoked in house, hand made patties. Great friendly staff. This place is why it’s called culinary ARTS. These guys are creative and love what they do.

Love this place from the funky décor to the great staff and AMAZING food at a great value. Their daily specials board always offer up some interesting choices to mix up things a little from my regular choices — veggie pizza(add bacon), Canuck burger, classic poutine, grilled portabello burger. They always seem to find something new and interesting to do with ingredients to make them stand out from the norm!

We had a bacon burger with fries and some kind of poutine that was covered in all sorts of meat — it was all really good and you get so much food! Burger was one of the best I’ve ever had, definitely coming back in the future. There’s an antique store connected to the restaurant so when you are done eating you can go browse the store, if you want. Also for those that might not know, you place your order at the counter and then take a seat. They will bring you your food when it’s ready. There is no waiter/waitress that will constantly ask how your food is(thank God), so you can enjoy your meal in peace.

If you are staying at one of the nearby hotels, this is one of only a few restaurants within walking distance. If not for the positive reviews, one could easily miss this little spot, but I am glad I did not. After not being in Canada for a number of years, I felt the need to have a poutine, and since many of the locals raved about this little eatery, I felt I had to try it out. As others disclaimed, the appearance may be off-putting for some, but to me it was nostalgic. The food was superb, and the staff was friendly and helpful. As I waited for my poutine, I observed all of the dishes that left the kitchen and most had my mouth watering. I did not see a vegetarian meal go out. Based on recommendations, I chose the smoked meat poutine and was not disappointed. Although this spot may not be for everyone, if your looking for a rich, hearty meal, and don’t mind the dated and confusing décor, this spot is for you.

Best pulled pork in town by far! They hit it on the flat top to give it a little griddle crust before serving. That combined with the delicious sauce and caramelized apples mixed in makes it one of the best for sure! I suggest the pulled pork and Greek salad on the side! Excellent combo!

Club sandwich was awful. The chicken was still pink inside so we sent it back. Even after they brought it back cooked properly it was still mediocre. The smoked meat and rib poutine was a little better I guess, but a bit overpriced. We saw other people ordering the hotdog and pizza, and it looked alright.

Came here with some friends expecting it to just be your standard pub type place. Instead this place just served me the best pulled pork poutine I’ve had in my life. To top it all off the staff are super super friendly. Great food, great service and great staff!

Full disclosure, my very good friend’s cousin’s fiancé owns this place. For a small place, they have a super varied and interesting choice of food. A few varieties of poutine, what my friend describes as the best vegetarian pizza ever(and this girl loves meat!), burgers and also some vegan and healthy options. For a casual lunch, it’s got everything. The prices are great, as well. I got the pulled pork poutine(sans cheese) which has 2 pork ribs, pullled pork and fries slathered in bbq sauce. I thought the bbq sauce was a bit much(very tangy) but the pulled pork was solid and the ribs were pretty good, though the bones were really soft. Maybe overcooked? I ate as much as I could. about 2⁄3 before I had to give up. The place itself is pretty neat and casual. We sat at a table with 80s era Michael Jackson albums under the glass. I would definitely go back. The quinoia vegan burger looks fascinating, but I’ll likely just lose it and eat the most unhealthy thing on the menu.

We came here for a quick lunch, on the advice of a salesman at the St. Jacob’s Furniture house. Great find for lunch. My stepson had the veggie portabello za and loved it. The rest of us had a variety of burgers, absolutely delicious. Our only complaint was the cramped quarters and a somewhat confusing layout. We finally figured out that we had to order at the counter. Probably our fault for not being overly observant. However, it was well worth it for a filling of a good solid, if somewhat greasy lunch. We will return.

We were visiting family and looking for a place open on Thanksgiving. Pulling out my trusty Unilocal app I found this place. We all got the bacon cheese burger and I had the poutine. The food was Miraculous the burger was juicy and the gravy was to die for. The service was great the lady behind the counter was friendly and checked on us often. The atmosphere was classic with old records and movie posters. The only issue I had was that the place was packed and could have used more seating!!!

Great food, very satisfying and in ample portions. Nice unusual interior design. Free wifi. What else can you desire?

The pulled pork had too much sauce and this place loses a full star for the number of flies! It was unsanitary and disgusting!

I would only come here for the curry goat cheese poutine. I love that poutine, curry and goat cheese mix very well with the french fries. Their normal poutine uses gravy that is saltier than I’d expect. It’s a decent poutine and will satisfy your poutine cravings. I’m not so hot on the baked hot dog. I saw many pictures of it online so I had to try it and it’s cheesy and has some other toppings underneath the sausage, but in the end it didn’t leave much of an impression on me. I’ll try some of their other crazier dishes next time… I’m eyeing the Tex Mex Pizza.

Go here! Now! I travel to the Ontario area often, and I’ll tell you for a Kentucky boy, the food leaves a lot to be desired. But this place is really good! Great food at a great price. Some indoor tables and spacious covered outdoor area.

Burgers are great. Daily specials are varied and tasty. I get lunch here often. Recommend their burger special or quesadilla with good old poutine!

Amazing pulled pork sandwich! The meat was charred and tasted just right. The sides are huge portions. The poutine was pretty tasty but not enough cheese! More cheese and it’s just right.

First time to try Pootine and The Crazy Canuck exceeded my wildest hopes. Just trust the dude behind the counter and he will take care of you. I had Smoked Meat. Oh, the curds :) The atmosphere is also very Canadian cool. Don’t expect anything fancy and don’t trust your GPS, but this place is awesome. Oh, and don’t miss the Snow Shoe for desert. It’s a deconstructed jelly donut with ice cream on top.

The staff was very friendly. The food was good. I had the classic poutine, and somehow got a rib/pulled pork poutine. Sent it back and got a classic. It was a good poutine, a little less gravy and salt and it would have been better. My girlfriend got the pulled pork because of the reviews left on here. She said it was good, But not nearly as great as people were proclaiming. The ambience is terrible. It echos like mad so you find people constantly trying to talk over each other and it just gets louder, and louder, and louder. And the seating is very uncomfortable. I’m 6’4″. And those captains chairs are not made for big dudes. If I were to go back it would be «to go». I like to be comfortable while dining.

Delicious pulled pork, and amazingly fantastic fries. The bun on the pulled pork sandwich was a bit small to fit all the meat, but was just the right balance of fluffy without falling apart. You can tell great care’s been put into the details with the food. I should mention that the current location on the Unilocal map is incorrect. The restaurant is up by the St. Jacob’s, at the west end of Farmer’s Market Rd. at the northern King/Weber intersection(not near the southern King/Weber intersection)
